It's been studied, Sportinlife, but the NAACP, et al, keep insisting that any test in which there exists an obvious difference between white scores and AfAm scores, is because the test itself is "racially biased."

Here's a slightly O/T but interesting story:
In college we had to take the GRE test (Graduate Record Exam), during the last semester of our senior year. This test had to be in your MAJOR subject.

I had a double-major, and the Phys. Ed. stuff came so easily to me, that I opted to test in P.E. When the results came in, my advisor told me that, since women P.E. majors consistently scored so much higher than men P.E. majors, that 3 raw score points were automatically deducted from my score.

That was 1979.

To keep the sound of his voice from nauseating you, mute the TV and turn on the sub-titles. That way you can read what he says shortly after he reads it off the teleprompter. And you won't have to listen to his voice, which is really annoying.

Often the brightest and most hard-working AfAm students come from schools that do not require a lot. Being an academic star in a school of disaffected fools is not hard and thus getting great grades is achieved more easily, too. When some of these bright students, lauded at their high schools as the best of the best, arrive at college they discover that their high school courses were too easy and didn't prepare them properly in work habits and background information for what college demands.

Though college is getting easier all the time so that colleges can keep students and their tuition $.

It' is tragic that these smart AfAm kids then drop out of college because they weren't prepared for it by their high schools.

sportinlife - it has nothing to do with IQ, it has to do with studying. It's not cool to "act white" and get good grades. It's cultural. At my kids high school we have a very diverse population. I think we're probably split evenly between whites, asians and blacks. All of these kids have come up through the same elementary, middle and high school. All of these kids have had access to the same teachers, counselors, etc. So why after 12 years of school is there still a "learning gap"? If the parents (or parent) doesn't stress the importance of learning they're not going to. Even the best teachers only have a small influence, the rest has to come from them. And of course, our asian population is our best performing group, so there's a "learning gap" between them and the whites. How come we don't have any special programs to address that? Oh, yeah. We all know asian parents are strict, so why can't we say that black parents are lax?
