A Sad Report on our Amusing Bunni

bunni banner

I’m sure you saw the comments yesterday about Amusing Bunni’s terminal illness. This will be hard, but I’m going to fill you in on the details that  Bunni told me, and said I could share with you.

You all know Bunni from her wonderful comments and her blog, Amusing Bunni’s Musings, over there in my sidebar. You may also have noticed that she hasn’t been around much for a while. Bunni has been ill. She’s been feeling very poorly for several months and  she checked into the hospital for tests about 2 weeks ago.  Bunni received the devastating news the same week as the election: she was diagnosed with inoperable Hepatocellular carcinoma – stage 5 liver cancer. Her diagnosis is terminal and she has been told she has only 3-6 months to live.

There are no words that can express how saddened I am, yet again, to hear such devastating news about another of our blogger family. I can neither imagine how it  must feel to receive a diagnosis like that, nor are there words adequate to describe how it feels to hear a dear friend has received this sentence.

Bunni actually sounds like she is taking this better than me, but she is worried about how she will be able to handle her last few months on this earth financially, and how to care for her beloved Little Kittehkins after she’s gone.

Because she can no longer work, Bunni will be terminated from her job and, shortly thereafter, lose her employer provided health care insurance. She’s applying  for Social Security Disability and Medicaid, but she still has a mortgage and palliative treatments to pay for without interruption.

I have put a special, exclusive link at the top of my sidebar for donations to her secure, PayPal medical fund. Because she needs the help RIGHT NOW, and there really is no tomorrow, it is the only “Help” link there for now.

Bunni is looking for a loving home for her Kittehkins, preferably in the Chicago area. If you want to adopt Little Kittehkins, please contact Bunni through me at motus@michellesmirror.com.

And while, believe me, I know it’s hard out there right now, Please, if you can, hit the link to HELP BUNNI.

Bunni is looking forward to rejoining her mother and all the family and friends who have gone before her. She asked us not to cry, butt as I explained to  her, while there’s no crying in baseball or politics, in real life, tears are plentiful.

Godspeed Bunny, our prayers are with you. We will all join you on the other side of the gates one day.

Getting Ready for the Big Dance

Yesterday Big Guy had several of his biggest fans and supporters in for tea:

trumka

All rock stars in their own right (Big Unions and Big Community Organizing): Rubin Justin (MoveOn.org), DickieTrumka (AFL-CIO), Mary Kaye Henry (SEIU)

TRUMKADirector of MoveOn.org Justin Ruben (L) and International President of the Service Employee International Union Mary Kay Henry

And as promised, they received nothing butt good news from Big Guy:

The heads of several labor unions and Democratic-leaning interest groups emerged from an hourlong meeting with Obama saying they were united with the president on how to avert the so-called “fiscal cliff” and prevent more financial hardships next year.

That of course would be by preserving the tax cuts for middle class families that were first put in place by the Bush administration, and that Big Guy voted against, before he voted for.

“We are very, very committed to making sure that the middle class and workers don’t end up paying the tab for a party that we didn’t get to go to and the president is committed to that as well,” said AFL-CIO president Richard Trumka

Of course, in order to “pay” for them, he’s going to have his team raise tax rates on the rich – which has already incurred some bracket creep: the top 1% has now doubled to the top 2%. Big Guy intends to keep doubling down on that until we’re closer to the top 50%, at which point nearly everyone who voted against him will have been punished.

Immediately following tea party number one, we hosted tea party number two for another Progressive support group: womyn!

Just to avoid confusion, yesterday’s soirees looked much more like this:

Than this:

Attending the ladies thank you party along with Big Guy were Cecilia Munoz of the Domestic Policy Council and Gene Sperling, director of the National Economic Council (which may find time to meet again, now that the reelection is over).

"The president was cute when he came in. He said 'I heard Gene was outnumbered and needed some backup,'" said one attendee, Lisa Maatz, director of the American Association of University Women. "This was a very positive meeting. There were some moments of levity like that."

Obama went on to crack a joke about how the women's groups must be excited that Michelle Obama will be first lady for another four years. “He said it was a package deal, we had to take him too,” (snip)

Maatz said the women's groups also spoke with the president about improving Social Security and protecting Medicare and Medicaid…she also laid out the commitment her group and other advocates for women expect from Obama going forward.

Uh, thanks Lisa, butt I think we all know what women expect from Big Guy:

Which reminds me, since I was gone yesterday I forgot to wish everyone “Happy Birth Control Day”

sir-richards-condoms-happy-birth-control-day-3-600-66739

Unclear if this is satirical irony or simply more progressive idiocy

"There was very much a sense of the importance that women played in the election -- If not for women, we may very well have been having a meeting with a different president or president-elect," Maatz said. "We expect him to dance with the one who brought him."

Man, BO better get himself a new pair of dancing shoes, because the dude’s got a lot of partners to dance with.

And so many, many more - too many to mention.

Butt in the rush to thank everyone for their little part in delivering the crown, let’s not lose site of the dance partner par excel lance most responsible for dragging Big Guy’s little arse over the finish line in the dance marathon: the indefatigable Lady M.

Open Thread: Scandals, Cover-ups Optional

My reflective services are required elsewhere today from before sunup to after sundown so I must leave you to entertain yourselves…something I know you are all very capable of.

If anyone is suffering MO withdrawal (although I can’t imagine who would be), you can check in on what she was doing last year at this time (hint: we were in Hawaii with the little man – Dmitry, not BO!)

mo butt medvedev

In addition to all the other juicy scandals and cover-ups you might want to discuss today, don’t forget about Hilz’ blockbuster confession to the NYT that she suffers from sleep deprivation – that could effect your judgment, couldn’t it? – and a secret longing to be an interior decorator.

hillary beer cheer

Have fun, butt remember: let’s be careful out there. With so many people asleep at the switch, it’s apparently more dangerous than we even suspected.

Dim SumThin’

Do you remember Tom Friedman’s column in praise of the efficiency of China’s enlightened, benevolent totalitarianism? It must have hit a nerve because apparently he got a lot of people in America asking themselves  “Why can’t we be more like China?” And last week, they answered their own question: YES WE CAN!

Now that we’ve re-anointed the Won, we have turned off the “please fasten seat belts” sign and he is free to walk about the country. So we can expect a lot of enlightened, benign policies being implemented in his wake.

civilian militaryNote to self: must requisition 100 million pair of white gloves for our Civilian Military Force

Next time around, expect the electorate to vote to eliminate the whole tedious, expensive process of holding elections every few years altogether. And just think of the reduction in carbon emission we’ll experience when we eliminate the need for Democrats to round up all those homeless, dead and otherwise illegal voters and drive them to the polls!

Anyway, once we get rid of general elections, the proles will be at least as enlightened as their Chinese counterparts, who just let their betters decide who to put into power next. Coincidentally, China is holding its 18th Chinese Communist Party Congress of Betters this week, at which Xi Jinping will be anointed President on Thursday.

Like Big Guy, Xi Jinping had the good sense to “punch above his weight” when selecting a political spouse:

peng5michelle-obama-amplivox-2

Xi Jinping’s wife, Peng Liyuan, is an attractive folk singer (like Carla!) and as such is expected to be a bit of a celebrity First Lady, perhaps giving even our veteran Lady M a run for her money. She’s expected to  play a larger role in political life than recent Chinese political wives. Not since Madame Mao, who was quite a little pistol in her own right, have the First Ladies of China been the least bit political; for reasons that are obvious to all butt the most ignorant of Chinese recent history. Like Tom Friedman.

mao and madame maoMao and Madame Mao. Great sense of style, butt not so hot on the human rights front.

Anyway, having attractive, accomplished wives isn’t the only thing these two world leaders will have in common:

peng moOh sure, Peng can sing, butt can she dance?

“Xi Jinping has been described as an ambitious ideologist, pragmatist, staunchly anti-American, being managed and his movements carefully scripted to support the China Regime propaganda machine.”

Wow! Substitute “Democratic Party” for “China” and are we not talking separated at birth?!

bo xi flexI’ll have a lot more flexibility after I’m anointed too.

When they met last February, the two anti-American leaders discovered other things they had in common as well; for instance, they both agreed that China would be a swell place to build Jeeps as long as nobody is allowed to talk about it until after the American “election.”

They both enjoy a good dark brew:

And they both hold out HOPE for a better things tomorrow:

So until then, just shut up and eat your gruel fried rice.
