Sometimes You Get the Bear, Sometimes the Bear Gets You

Nelson, arguably the worse sheep dog ever, demonstrates how easy it is to get sheeple to follow. Of course having a plan is useful. File this plan under “Leading from behind” – H/T Barack Hussein Obama.

Moral: Never underestimate the value of a good sheepdog.

“People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.” – Orwell

Things That Matter: The Wit and Wisdom of Charles Krauthammer

Charles, on everything:

Stupidity:

krauthammer

Youth:

I was a Great Society liberal on domestic issues. People ask me, 'How do you go from Walter Mondale to Fox News?' The answer is, 'I was young once.'

Canadians:

I don't know about you, but I lie awake nights worrying about Canadian uranium. I know these people. I grew up there. You have no idea what they're capable of doing. If Sidney Crosby hadn't scored that goal to win the Olympic gold medal, there's no telling what might have ensued.

America’s favorite pastime:

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Politics in America:

To understand the workings of American politics you have to understand this fundamental law: Conservatives think liberals are stupid. Liberals think conservatives are evil.

Obama:

In the course of his presidency, Obama has gone from an almost magical charismatic figure to an ordinary politician. Ordinary. Average.

One World Order:

The international community lies at the center of the Obama foreign policy. Unfortunately, it is a fiction. There is no such thing. Different countries have different histories, geographies, necessities, and interests. There's no natural, inherent, or enduring international community.

Liberals:

What’s the definition of a liberal? Someone who doesn’t care what you do as long as it’s mandatory.

The tyranny of the left:

The left is entering a new phase of ideological agitation no longer trying to win the debate but stopping debate altogether, banishing from public discourse any and all opposition. The proper word for that attitude is totalitarian. It declares certain controversies over and visits serious consequences from social ostracism to vocational defenestration upon those who refuse to be silenced.

Equality of opportunity v equality of outcome:

Liberal Media:

Fox News is no monopoly. It is a singular minority in a sea of liberal media. ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS, NPR, CNN, MSNBC vs. Fox. The lineup is so unbalanced as to be comical - and that doesn't even include the other commanding heights of the culture that are firmly, flagrantly liberal: Hollywood, the foundations, the universities, the elite newspapers.

Pharmacology and Advertising:

Consider the oddity of those drug commercials on television. Fifteen seconds of the purported therapeutic effort, followed by about 45 seconds of a rapidly muttered list of horrific possible side effects. When the ad is over, I can't remember a thing about what the pill is supposed to do, except perhaps cause nausea, liver damage, projectile vomiting, a nasty rash, a four-hour erection, and sudden death. Sudden death is my favorite because there is something comical about it being a side effect. What exactly is the main effect in that case? Relief from abdominal bloating?

Gun Control:

In the liberal remake of 'Casablanca,' the police captain comes upon the scene of the shooting and orders his men to 'round up the usual weapons.' It's always the weapon and never the shooter.

Economics:

If you subsidize apples, you get more apples; if you subsidize unemployment, you get more of it.

Great Leaders (which explains why Obama wasn’t)”

Great leaders are willing to retire unloved and unpopular as the price for great exertion.

Multiculturalism:

History has blessed us with all the freedom and advantages of multiculturalism. But it has also blessed us, because of the accident of our origins, with the linguistic unity that brings a critically needed cohesion to a nation as diverse, multiracial and multiethnic as America. Why gratuitously throw away that priceless asset? How mindless to call the desire to retain it 'racist.

I could go on, but suffice to say the world is a little worse off today for the loss of another brilliant mind.

Besides, I see that the world of media has already moved on to obsess over the intent of Melania’s cloaked message:

Answer: No.

The Summer Solstice: Let There Be Light

I don’t know about you but I can’t bear another day of the Left’s posturing, pirouetting and pouting over a border policy that’s been in place since the days of the false light bringer.

Instead on this, the longest day of the year, let’s pause to celebrate the light.

It’s the Seriousness of the Allegations, Stupid

"We have no conclusive evidence of wrongdoing, but the seriousness of the allegations, and the weight of circumstantial information, compel an effort to establish the facts." – Reagan’s October Surprise

the answer you want dilbert

When an unsecured email server was used to handle confidential governmental communications, Comey found “no clear evidence” of Secretary Clinton’s intent to violate the law, so he concluded that “no reasonable prosecutor would have pursued charges.”

When the IG investigated the FBI, Horowitz found “no clear evidence” that the people who headed the Clinton email probe were biased despite their biased comments and therefore concluded that there was nothing a reasonable prosecutor could pursue.

I wonder if Special Counsel Mueller will apply those same standards to the facts when he wraps up the “Trump-Russia-Collusion” witch hunt. Although I guess you have to ask yourself if facts really matter when you’re looking to ensure an “unbiased” prosecution conclusion.

Always Go With the Visionary

"That's no moon. It's a space station." - Obi Wan Kenobi, Star Wars IV A New Hope

Air Force, Space Force: may the Force be with you.

At a meeting of National Space Council intended to transfer space responsibilities from military to civilian hands, president Donald Trump surprised attendees by ordering the top US military officer to launch a new branch of the military in space.

While the creation of a Space Force has been debated for several years, the move has been opposed by the military, which has instead begun restructuring the Air Force Space Command to better address threats in space. - QZ

Oh sure, the Left and the media – but I repeat myself – will have their fun with this. But a more serious observer may consider this a very good idea given that WWIII may well be orchestrated from outer space rather than in the air or on the oceans. When survival is the the objective I say go with a visionary, very stable genius.

Hyperbole: The Official Language of Progressives

Summer re-education camp curriculum for progressives, history and civics division. Lesson Plan #1:

This is a concentration camp:

bones-of-anti-nazi-german-women-still-are-in-the-crematoriums-in-the-german-concentration-camp-at-weimar-germany-jpgThe ovens of Auschwitz

This is NOT a concentration camp:

dilley

“Surrounded by high fencing, the South Texas Family Residential Center, as it is officially known, has a basketball gym, a school for the children, a state-of-the-art medical clinic and a beauty salon… ‘I would be lying if I said they didn’t treat us well,’ said Y.G.G., a 27-year-old woman who has been at the camp here since February.” – NYT

It’s not exactly a Hilton, or even a Holiday Inn Express. However it is also not a facility where people are subjected to hard labor; innocent people are not worked to death, starved to death, gassed, and their bodies stuffed into an oven either. See the difference?

dilley washing machinesWhat!? They have to do their own laundry?!!

Hyperbole: the official language of progressives everywhere, always. Because, FEELINGS!
