Caturday Open Thread

My day yesterday:

Monoclonals in the morning. Home, lunch. Nap. Dinner. A couple of episodes of Boston Legal. Bed.

And here I am. I’m still taking sodium tablets and potassium. Still light headed and unfocused but feeling better. Just not there yet. So Caturday’s on you.

BTW, in case you don’t know, salt is toxic for cats. No wonder their brains are so weird.

Open Thread Friday

I’m back! Sort of.

Very brief for now: I was released from the hospital at 8:00 last night and went to bed the instant I got home and slept till my alarm went off at 6:00– more sleep than I’ve had for the last 3 days combined. Why the alarm you ask? The only reason the doctor released me my sodium level are still sub-normal) was because I have a very hard to secure appointment in Salt Lake this morning for the monoclonal antibody treatment.

So I’m on my way. May you all be protected by antibodies of your own.

That’s all for now folks. Be back later, hopefully in better form.

Throwback Thursday: TV Edition

little-mo-MOTUS-beret-copy5_thumb2  Little Mo reporting:

Dateline Park City: MOTUS is feeling much better this morning having a full day of electrolyte cocktails, Personally, I prefer martinis, but then…

So, I know you are all anxious to hear a report on MOTUS most important treatment results food and TV. As reported yesterday, and confirmed by MOTUS,  the food at the Park City Hospital’s Silver Star Cafe is supoib. TV, not so much.

How can a “celebrity” hospital in a town that hosts the Sundance Festival serve up such a week cheese cable lineup. They must know how important quality entertainment is to a patient’s recovery. So why no “every show has a happy ending” Hallmark Channel? Why no throwback to the good ole’ days channels like

Heros & Icons

or COZI featuring MOTUS old boss at RightNetwork

Great TV shows from way back when TV and America was Great!

So discuss among yourselves what are your favorite throwback Tv shows and where can we watch them or any other throwback topic that suits your fancy.

And remember: Keep Calm And Carry On.

Stay Calm And Carry On

little-mo-MOTUS-beret-copy5  Little Mo reporting:

Dateline Park City, UT: I don’t want to start a “conspiracy Theory,” but my co-conspirators, MOTUS and Raj have both been infected with the Wuhan Cootie. Hmmmmmm???

Raj was first, showing symptoms the day after Christmas, the very day we were supposed to make cookies! Next came MOTUS, just in time to scrap our New Years festivities. I’m not at risk because I have Diplomatic Immunity.

Raj got his monoclonal antibody army infused last Friday and is doing much better. MOTUS on the other hand, gave us a scare last night when she awoke (not “woke”) around 3:00 AM disoriented with shakes. Raj and I whisked her off to Park City Hospital’s emergency room where they determined, as MOTUS suspected, that she was dehydrated and her electrolytes were out of whack.

Because the MOTUS Krewe was COVID positive, we were not allowed to accompany her and had to wait in the car for information, violating gleefully Summit County’s “No Idle” law to stay warm; 24 degrees F and snowing. After a couple of hours, we got the news that MOTUS was being admitted to the hospital to receive electrolytes via IV.

At first, they thought she might be topped off and ready to go this afternoon, but later decided to keep her over night. I’m not sure if it was the hospital making that overnight call or MOTUS herself. Not to disparage Raj’s skills in the kitchen, but he’s not quite up to Souse Chef yet and Park City Hospital’s Silver King Cafe has been heralded since it’s opening as one of the destination dining spots in the Wasatch back.

The worst part of this situation is MOTUS has no PC, no tablet, no kindle, no phone charger and the hospital, while superb in the food department, is a major fail in the cable tee vee department. NO HALLMARK channel for crying out loud!

So I leave you with MOTUS direction for today: Stay Calm and Carry On. She will return to your screens shortly.

Taco Tuesday Canceled Due COVID

I’m afraid I’m just not up to it today so I’m sorry to report that Taco Tuesday has been canceled due to COVID… and the resulting labor shortage and supply chain issues.

But as always virtual learning will continue online so be sure to sign in to participate.

Raj did get me scheduled for a monoclonal antibody treatment (don’t ask how) on Friday, which seems a long way off right now but I will make it. So carry on, I’m sure there are a few things worth chatting about. I hope to be back in the saddle soon.

January 3 2022: I’m Not Loving This Trend

So far I have felt a little worse every single day of 2022.

I hope this is not a trend. But until such time as I can get my twinkle back on I leave you to entertain yourselves.

Remember: you still have 3 days of Christmas to celebrate before Twelfth Night. Feel free to continue to celebrate in whatever fashion you deem appropriate.

Coffee: Is There Anything It Can’t Do?

A bit of good news as we kick off 2022.

coffee transport me there

It turns out coffee is your friend. And it is very good for you, as first outlined in this report from 2017:

A meta-analysis of 127 studies conducted in 2017 revealed that daily drinking two to four 8-ounce cups of coffee decreases risk of cancer by 20 percent, Type 2 diabetes by 30 percent, and Parkinson's by 30 percent. Furthermore, a  huge study in the UK found that those who drink a LOT of coffee live longer than those who don't.

Wow, that’s high praise; you would think that would be enough to convince tea-totalers to switch it up and enjoy a delicious cup of Joe a couple times a day. But wait! There’s more: in 2021 scientists found three new advantages to drinking coffee:

1. Drinking Coffee Reduces Risk of Liver Disease

2. Drinking Coffee Reduces Risk of Heart Failure

3. Drinking Coffee Reduces Risk of Alzheimer's

Why, you’d have to be a fool to pass up the opportunity to delight your senses, brighten your day and expand your lifespan.

hello darkness my old friend

And now your life enhancing caffeine need not be racist. You can get the same health benefits from your covfefe regardless of which politically correct shade and hue you prefer.

Such good news: Now even the woke can be woke.
