Get Your Angle Wings Here

From the fine mind of Trey Gowdy,

"The president said that … in Trayvon Martin he saw a son. I can tell you those of us who have daughters saw our daughters in Kate Steinle."

And the equally talented Big Fur Hat at iOTW, we have this “We’ll Claim Kate” memorial.

And now, because it’s the weekend, and because we all deserve a break, let’s make this recipe weekend (and remember, every time a recipe is posted an angel gets his wings).

PolishChrusciki_600Chrusciki, aka Angel’s Wings

Or at least they get a drink:

An old fashioned Angel’s tip, perhaps?

angel tipAngel's Tip

3/4 oz dark creme de cacao
3/4 oz heavy cream

Layer in a cordial glass, cream on top.

So let’s get those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer recipes flowing, we could all use a little diversion. All comers welcome: salads, soups, Bar-B-Que, desserts, drinks. It can be classic American, Thai, Chinese, Middle Eastern, Mexican - food has no enemies, and we’re all hungry out here.

And remember, “if you give a man a fish he eats for a day, if you teach him how to fish…”“Let’s see, breakfast, lunch, dinner, breakfast again.”

P.S. Does anyone have a killer recipe for refrigerator bread and butter pickles?

America, Take Heart: If Frank Can Do It, So Can We

Today’s post comes compliments of Mark Steyn, writing about one of the greatest come-backs in musical history:

According to Scott Fitzgerald, there are no second acts in American lives. Which isn't true. But there are few second acts like Frank Sinatra's…the man who had lost his fans, lost his voice, lost his agent, lost his movie contract, lost his TV show and lost his record label is back at the microphone. He takes his time, colla voce, and declares himself:

I've Got The World On A String
Sittin' on a rainbow
Got the string around my fi-i-i-inger...

As Mr. Steyn explains, Frank’s comeback was made possible by the inspired, if somewhat accidental, collaboration of his talents with those of arranger/conductor Nelson Riddle. There’s a moral in there somewhere that America might do well to take to heart.

Meanwhile, let’s just listen to my favorite Sinatra tune of all time, which just happens to be Mark’s #1 as well. So grab yourself a small glass of Jack if you’re so inclined and start the weekend early:

And take heart - while F. Scott Fitzgerald may have believed there were no second acts in America that’s because he did his best work in his twenties before throwing in the towel and letting the booze win. Butt most of us manage to improve with age.

On this day in history - Future Edition.

On this day in history - July 23, 2015:

On this date in 2015, The Obama began what would be hailed as the final phase of his fundamental transformation of Amerika. Without as much as a peep from the “loyal opposition” The Obama advanced his assault on the Constitution by continuing to write his own laws and treaties and by re-writing existing immigration law in his own image and likeness. It was a bloodless coup, directed by his long-term consigliere

val jar barry phone“Got that Barry?” “Yes Mommy.”

and executed with nothing more than this pen and and his phone - again, thanks in large part to the complete lack of resistance from the opposition party.

Within 2 years The Obama had managed to complete the transformation of America with a “c” – a majority white nation whose Constitution was based on Judeo-Christian values -  to Amerika with a “k” - a minority white nation based on a blend of Marxist social justice and Muslim sharia.

Four years later, shortly after anyone still foolish enough to call themself a journalist was thrown in jail, and all of the outspoken conservatives had been tried and convicted for income tax violations, The Obama was unanimously elected to his fourth term. And the rest, as they say, is history:

my work id done colorado copyWe are all Baltimore now

Shortly following his fourth historic election, what had been an ambient civil unrest “transformed” itself into a full-scale civil war. The opposition to The Obama was surprisingly robust. The guns and ammunition that had been thought to have been confiscated unexpectedly reappeared and fell into the hands of the patriots who called themselves “Wolverines” for some reason.

The revolution, however, was not televised. Reasons vary, butt most historians agree it was primarily due to the combination of all the journalists being in jail, the government having taken control of all television networks and cable companies, along with the prior transformation of the Internet from an open network to a public utility.

Again, the rest is history; repeated.

red dawn wolverines“Wolverines” from the original Red Dawn

Today, 2030 A.D. (21 A.O. – After Obama), there remain two Americas, one with a “k” where Obamafication still reigns, and one with a “c” where the nation that has produced more hope, equality, freedom, justice, prosperity and charity than any other country in the history of the world continues to shine it’s light in the darkness.

light shining in darkness

“καὶ τὸ φῶς ἐν τῇ σκοτίᾳ φαίνει καὶ ἡ σκοτία αὐτὸ οὐ κατέλαβεν”

And the light shineth in darkness and the darkness comprehended it not.”

And now you know the rest of the story.

Help! We’ve Fallen and We Can’t Get Up!

Woman: "Mr. Churchill, what kind of woman do you think I am?!" Churchill: "Madam, we've already established that. Now we are just haggling about the price”

mary gatter

I sincerely hope this will be my last entry in the “Planned Parenthood” stealth video gallery because frankly I don’t know how much more you – or I - need to know about “less crunchy” harvesting techniques of “undifferentiated fetal tissue.” (Although I will note that - if the price is right – it would appear that “fetal tissue” can indeed be differentiated.)

prolifeHuman fetuses: apparently valuable only to the baby body snatchers

I don’t know about you, butt I’m getting too old for this crap. Even I, at my cynical peak, never dreamed that the rabbit hole could be bottomless.

Your Hand is Black, Thin and Weak; Time to Play Your Trump Card?

You can’t blame people for demanding an apology from The Donald for his stupid shoot-from-the-lip comment. After all, groveling has become our default position ever since our Commander-in-Chief turned Apologizing for America into the country’s favorite pastime.

In Obama’s Amerika everybody and their grandmother apologizes at the drop of a hat for everything and anything that anyone might conceivably take offense at: sexism, homophobia, transgender insensitivity, Islamophobia, “cultural appropriation,” white privilege…or simply for putting cream in your coffee.

coffee-and-milkI see racism, cultural appropriation, and white privilege: what do you see?

Butt with The Donald this is the closest you’re going to get to an apology:

"Certainly if there was a misunderstanding I would totally take that back," Trump said after lots of urging from O'Reilly. "But hopefully I said it correctly and certainly shortly thereafter I said it correctly." – Newsmax

While it probably wouldn’t be a bad idea to acknowledging that his mouth might have gotten a bit ahead of his brain, I have to admit it’s refreshing to find someone who refuses to buy into the Great White American Apologia.  And it looks like I’m not the only one who thinks so.

How do you want your coffee? Black, thin and weak:

weak coffee2That looks like pretty weak sauce

Or Trump-style?

Feminism; It’s come to this…

Now that the FemiNazis have bullied* men into buying their crap; what could go wrong?

Ah yes, feminism: it’s come to this, oh yes it has:

As I write this, my children are asleep in their room, Loretta Lynn is on the stereo, and my wife is out on a date with a man named Paulo. It’s her second date this week; her fourth this month so far. If it goes like the others, she’ll come home in the middle of the night, crawl into bed beside me, and tell me all about how she and Paulo had sex. I won’t explode with anger or seethe with resentment. I’ll tell her it’s a hot story and I’m glad she had fun. It’s hot because she’s excited, and I’m glad because I’m a feminist.

Before my wife started sleeping with other men, I certainly considered myself a feminist, but I really only understood it in the abstract. (h/t Instapundit)

Or, as the Instapundit put it: “Here’s a clue, champ: Paulo’s not a feminist. Count on it.”

I’m betting Paulo’s not gender-confused either.

*Disclaimer: in no way is this post intended to condone bullying of anyone, anywhere, anytime: #nobullying

Netroots Nation: Where Some Lives Matter and Some Don’t

Netroots Nation convened in Phoenix this weekend and it was such a target rich environment that even the Instapundit couldn’t even up. The incoming Twitter gems from Netroots 2015 were just too prolific for anyone to capture all of the good ones.

As always, Netroots was concerned with all things progressive from: Bees (#BeeLivesMatter)

to Racism (#BlackLivesMatterWhiteLivesNotSoMuch). Which led Martin O’Mally to apologize for his audacious assertion that “white lives matter” too.

martin-omalley “That was a mistake on my part.”

Finally, the congregation settled on Netroot’s main theme this year: white peoples’ failure to talk enough about – what else? – race. Many retweets expressed this sentiment butt I think Reyna’s said it best:

white supremacy

Sorry Reyna, butt somebody already tried that:

adolf hitler

And in case you’re too young to remember – and they failed to teach you this in school - a lot of white people ended that conversation. Unfortunately that “conversation” keeps coming up time and time again.
