Closed For Cleanup and Repairs

As we once again witnessed the triumph of party over country, the finger pointing will begin. Because the Democrats essentially got everything they once demanded in a spending bill they threw in the “clean DACA” towards the end of debate in order to have a noble reason to refuse to sign on. So we can’t have a functioning government budget because… Dreamers! Virtue signaling not withstanding, the ball’s really in your court Chucky.

Those of us who think that granting amnesty for 3.6 million (and counting) “Dreamers” – no matter the circumstances of their arrival – is a fool’s game will continue to be called racists. So be it.

But wait – what’s this!?! The media isn’t entirely embracing the Dem’s narrative?

Et tu, NYT?What’s up? Could they be holding Nancy Pelosi to her own words?

That sort of media treason could bode ill for the left in the face of  #ReleasetheMemo. But odds are not in our favor so stock up on popcorn and pass the ammunition. We are the ones who will be attacked for believing what is clearly contained in that memo, and the supporting documents.

Forget the S-Holes, the S-Storm is about to descend. And we’re going to need some cleanup on aisle 3.

FLOTUS Friday: And We Give Thanks

We road into Cheyenne around sunset yesterday. Cheyenne, Wyoming - elevation 6062 feet -  in the middle of January; it was 57 degrees. No snow anywhere, not in the air, on the wind or on the ground.  It was clear and balmy. And I am truly grateful that the only place in Wyoming Al Gore would ever consider going is Jackson Hole – they don’t mind the snow this time of year.

I can only tell you that this year’s trip has been much better than any number of the nightmarish winter journeys we’ve been on before global warming. So if those of you in the south are wondering where all your snow and cold came from, it appears to have come from the great northwest this year.

We’ll be headin’ up and movin’ out this morning, hoping to reach our destination ahead of this weekend’s gathering storm.

So let us pause on this FLOTUS Friday to reflect on our country’s good fortune.

And thank you God, for not getting this old band back together:

The President is Healthy, And So Is the Economy

It must be frustrating for his media detractors and the Never Trumpers. They’ve tried throwing everything and the kitchen sink at him but nothing sticks.

He’s a racist.

He’s a liar.

He’s a misogynist.

He’s colluding with Russia.

He’s  unstable.

He’s mentally unfit.

He’s got dementia.

He’s unhealthy.

Did I mention he’s a racist?

Having been unable to prove any of the first four allegations the media was certain the results of President Trump’s annual physical would confirm the next four. Although the initial reports proved to be disappointing they pursued the details of the results like rabid dogs. Although  none of them are real doctors they all decided to play one on TV, spending a precious hour of their lives conducting a group forensic autopsy on Navy Rear Admiral Dr.Ronny L. Jackson’s examination. Unfortunately the original diagnosis remained unchanged: the patient was still alive and well. .

Some disappointed Fake News talking heads decided to take matters into their own hands: Sanjay Gupta declared that the president has heart disease and will have a heart attack within 3-5 years. A few others are still defining the breath and scope of “Girther-gate.” The rest have resorted to the only criticisms they know that nobody is able to effectively dispute: “He’s old, fat, and ugly…and his momma was an immigrant.” Oh yeah, and he’s  “literally Hitler!”

In the meantime, Apple announced, as Trump predicted they would if his tax plan passed, they are repatriating the hundreds of billions of dollars in cash they’re holding oversees, pay a one time $38 billion tax on it to the U.S. Treasury and invest $30 billion in capital in the U.S. economy over the next 5 years… and give employees raises and bonuses. But that’s okay MSM, you keep reporting on how you suspect the President’s PSA number was too low to be real and his mental acuity number too high. And VSG-PTJT will just keep winning for the rest of us.

Situational Ethics: When You Have No Absolute Moral Values

Why is it Democrats have such a natural affinity for situational ethics? Flashback: That Time Schumer Said It Was Insane To Shut Down The Government Over Immigration Reform. But that was then:

Nancy Pelosi called the shutdown gambit “an unthinkable tactic,” and labeled those pushing for it “legislative arsonists.” Chuck Schumer vowed not to use it: “No matter how strongly one feels about an issue, you shouldn’t hold millions of people hostage . . . That’s wrong and we can’t give into that,” he told the New York Observer. “We could say, ‘we’re shutting down the government, we’re not going to raise the debt ceiling, until you pass immigration reform.’ It would be governmental chaos,” Schumer said a week later. This is now:

You want to begin, just begin, that long road back to proving you're not a racist, you're not bigoted? Support the bipartisan compromise that three Republicans and three Democrats have put on the floor — everyone gave! — and get the DREAMers safety here in America." – The Week

Then:

In 2013, during the debt ceiling negotiations, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) called the legislative strategy of tying immigration reform to budgetary matters—and threatening to shut down the government in the process—as a path that would breed “governmental chaos.” Townhall

Now:

Leading Democrats…have warned that without a bill to help Dreamers they would withhold their votes on the government funding bills, essentially threatening a shutdown. – LATimes

But then, people of color have always been pawns in the maw of Democratic politics and they know how to use them to maximum advantage. Because this isn’t really about Blacks, Hispanics or Muslims, it’s about the Democrats power, and control.

Betting against people and hoping misdirected hostility is directed towards Republicans for their political gain seems to be the Left’s modus operandi as of late. It’s not about helping people; it’s about the narrative. And if a million people have to get screwed over for the long term goal of booting Trump in 2020 and crushing the GOP in 2018, then liberals wills hang out the Hispanics to dry. This is about the maximization of power. - Townhall

Remember, in the Democrats book of ethics the end always justifies the mean. That way things never get too complicated.As long as only one side plays that way.

Crazy Like A Fox

Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day! Think how proud Dr. King would be to see so many black people in Congress today. Well okay, he might have a problem with some of them who got there solely on the basis of the color of their skin rather than the content of their character. I don’t want to mention any names (Maxine Waters) but I think (Elijah Cummings) you know (Sheila Jackson Lee) who (Keith Ellison) they (Kamela Harris) are (John Conyers-emeritus). 

Today will come as a disappointment for those who became accustomed to it being presided over by Obama for the past 8 years.

Which brings me back to yesterday’s story of the day: the incompetent photographer hired by the Pam and Dave Zaring family.  I know we discussed this yesterday but I hadn’t done any research yet and wasn’t sure if it was a hoax or just another case of everybody-gets-a-trophy. Turns out it is in fact the later. The family swears “this is most definitely NOT a joke” and paid $250 for the photos. The problem? According to their “professional” photographer “She said the shadows were really bad on the beautiful, clear, sunny day and that her professor never taught her to retouch photos.” Apparently her professor never taught her not to shoot with mid-day sun directly overhead either. Or how to use the Google machine. But no problem: as long as you try your best, right?

And apparently trying is as good as doing because according to the family Facebook post, they actually paid her for this “best effort.”

Ok. This is NOT a joke. We paid a photographer, who claimed to be a professional, $2-250 for a family photo shoot. Please see these FOR REAL photos she delivered to us....Feel free to share I literally have not laughed this hard in YEARS!!!!! You can't make this stuff up.....again, this is NOT a joke - final product

I really don’t think you should encourage incompetence like that. Next thing you know, some amateur artist will try to “fix up” a priceless fresco. Oh wait…

Although in the case of the Jesus fresco the sensational story was actually fake news; the restoration took longer than the elderly artist planned and she left it a work-in-progress to go on vacation. She returned to a firestorm. For the rest of the story (with happy ending) go here.

Today’s Take Aways:

1. Reach for the stars but know your limitations
2. Do not pay for incompetence, it just encourages more of it
3. Don’t accept money for your incompetence, sometimes your best effort is not good enough. Try harder.
4. Just because the media calls you incompetent doesn’t make it so.

Saturday At Costco

I am normally smart enough to stay out of my local Costco store on a Saturday afternoon. But yesterday I was out of my allergy meds, planning a visit to my crazy-sweet-cat-lady sister-in-law today and – having a real cat allergy (insert sad face here) - I committed an unforced error: I decided to pick up a few additional items while I was there.  The whole experience was worse than I imagined. The icy parking lot was a nightmare, I had to stalk someone to get a parking spot.  Shopping cart availability was limited to a bring-your-own-in-from-the-freezing-cold-parking-lot and the aisles were a maze and buzz of third world anarchy. Literally.

They were jammed with people who were clearly not born anywhere around here and by “here” I mean the United States. They were driving their shopping carts around in circles, ramming into others as they darted to and fro, speaking in tongues and otherwise creating shopping gridlock.

Of course I’ve seen non-native born shoppers here before, but they seem to own Saturdays. I know my virtue signaling betters will be quick to call me racist for this, but in my judgement the Hindi woman wearing a very lightweight sari covered only with an equally lightweight rain jacket and wearing flip flops on an afternoon that peaked at 16 degrees was not from around here. Nor was the hijab-clad woman with 5 kids all speaking an unintelligible language.

So I did the math (my white privilege) while waiting in the checkout lines solely on the basis of profiling. Using nothing more than my powers of observation I determined that 31% appeared to be either black or white native born Americans. The remaining 69% appeared (and sounded) to be from some place far, far away. Mind you, I’m not drawing any conclusion about the legal status, citizenship, virtue – or lack thereof - of of this huddling mass of humanity. I’m simply stating what is glaringly apparent to anyone paying attention: in my “white suburban” neighborhood the majority of shoppers on this Saturday afternoon in January, 2018 were most assuredly foreign-born. And oddly enough none – none mind you – appeared to be from south of the border. These new immigrant Americans were predominantly Indians, Pakistanis, Asians and too-numerous-to-mention Middle East countries. All here, I presume, to do jobs that Americans won’t do.

And that, my friends, is why Donald J. Trump is president.

I once worked with a lawyer  who, when he thought we were offering to give away more than we needed to in a business deal would remind us that while our contract terms needed to be legal and ethical in every respect, we were not a church. Some goes for our country, we are not a church; we cannot save the whole world. Acting as if we can do all of God’s work is pure hubris.
