“It’s Pauline Kael’s World, and You’re Living In It.”

Everybody knows we’re being lied to, constantly.

The NY Times regularly lies, on purpose, even if it has to later publish corrections that nobody reads - as John Hinderaker documents in NY Times: Oops, Never Mind

“Over the years, we have tracked a number of newspaper corrections (as often as not featuring the New York Times) where, if you match the belated correction against the original article, the conclusion is that the article was pointless and never should have been published. This is a good example of that genre. Today the New York Times issued this correction on a front page ‘news’ story attacking President Trump.”

Although it gets no airtime on MSM, the fact that the case against General Flynn was based solely on egregious lies by the FBI, is still a shocking revelation for those who have heard about it.

The stunning disclosure was the FBI’s “closing communication,” dated Jan. 4, 2017. After five months of investigating Mr. Flynn, whose code name was Crossfire Razor, the FBI counterintelligence team exonerated him of any improper contacts with Russians or any derogatory information.

In his current column, Kurt Schlichter asks What If It’s All A Lie?

Didn’t there arise in your mind, that agonizing Wednesday morning after Mrs. Clinton’s ruination, just the faintest notion that you had been lied to? You tracked the polls, and you reviewed the percentages – most hovering above 90% – that assured you that the glass ceiling was in for an epic shattering. And yet, no shattering was forthcoming. Whether expressly or by omission, you were lied to.

And it is happening again.

After the last election surely nobody would be surprised that, as Michigan Dem Rep Elissa Slotkin contends,  push-polls distort (lie about) results: Michigan Dem warns her party: The polls showing Biden with a big lead over Trump are wrong. Gee, it’s hard to believe somebody would lie to a push-poll.

Don’t even get me started on the lies associated with the Wuhan Cooties, that’s an entirely different post.

So the fact that President Trump commuted Roger Stone’s sentence should not shock anybody. It seems not only possible but likely that Stone’s conviction too might be based on lies by people who should never have possessed that kind of power.

All of which is a long way of getting to my recommendation: I think we should all find a nice quiet place to sit this weekend and let the world go by.

Perhaps a meadow

Or you could just sit there and contemplate the wisdom of Kurt:

You smile, confident in the polls telling you that Joe Biden, whose basement dwelling really has nothing to do with his obvious decline, is way ahead. Sure, that happened last time, but this time the polls are dead on. They have to be, right? You can’t imagine that someone, in this environment of vitriol against dissenters that you support, might hesitate to admit to a stranger on the phone an inclination to vote for the guy who is literally Hitler.

You can console yourself that all the people and all the outlets telling you exactly what you want to hear are telling you the truth. But somewhere inside your noggin there’s that nagging voice whispering the troubling question: “Am I being lied to again?”

It’s Pauline Kael’s world, and you’re living in it.

Defunded Police and the Wisdom of Crowds

In a decision worthy of a latter day Solomon, the Seattle City Council once again shows us the way. First they demonstrated how to effectively operate a small community without police (CHAZ/CHOP) and now they show us how to extend that success to the community at large:

The majority of Seattle City Council is now backing proposals to defund Seattle’s police department by 50%, despite concerns from the mayor’s office and Seattle’s police chief.

What could go wrong?

A coalition called Decriminalize Seattle presented a plan to the budget committee to redirect millions from the city budget to community organizations.

According to the coalition, its plan to reallocate more than $200 million from the Seattle Police Department’s budget would replace current 911 operations with a civilian-controlled system; scaled up community-led solutions; an investment in housing; and a fund for a “community-created roadmap to life without policing.”

Great. Let’s keep the  Questionable Wisdom of Crowds** in play as long as possible.

"It also shows that the more people share information, the further that information gets from the facts and the more resilient it becomes to correction."  (like – cough, cough – COVID)

And good luck with that “community-created roadmap to life without policing.”

Don’t Forget To Pack A Lunch

Note to all those who still don’t believe that the left, along with their seemingly endless stream of useful idiots, is intent on a path to dismantle America as it was founded: you are dangerously wrong.

Ilhan Omar Slams Donald Trump Jr. For Criticism Of Her Comments On ...

As long as our economy and political systems prioritize profit without considering who is profiting, who is being shut out, we will perpetuate this inequality,” she said at a livestreamed event in Minnesota on Tuesday. “We cannot stop at [the] criminal justice system. We must begin the work of dismantling the whole system of oppression.” – Ilhan Omar, yesterday

Presumably the great dismantling begins by shredding the Constitution that Omar swore (on a Koran, so technically it doesn’t count) to uphold and defend. One can only imagine where the great dismantling ends.

All that’s left is to replace all those liberty loving old white, paternalistic founding fathers…

Transformed Too Much Or Not Enough?

Tweet of the week year decade (so far):

Remember how upset people were back in 2008 when Rush Limbaugh said “I hope he fails” about Obama’s plan to “fundamentally transform” America? Leftists and RINOs alike reacted as if Rush had opened the gates of hell. Let history reflect that the gates of Hell were opened, but it was Obama, not Rush, who did it.

So, after 12 years of “transformation” I ask you: have we transformed too much?

These are the countries that already allow trans people to self ...

No they’re not

Or not enough?

That’s a Storybook, Man

The 3 day weekend of Burn, Loot, Riot culminated in the toppling of the statue of Frederick Douglass in Rochester, New York.

Frederick Douglass statue in New York removed from base and damagedNot Black enough for BLM

Since these marauders have no sense of history I doubt they even realized the irony of toppling the statue of the former slave on the very day and in the very place he delivered his famous speech - What to the Slave is the Fourth of July - 168 years ago. If you’re going to cancel the likes of Fredrick Douglas, who then do you look to for inspiration? Colin Kaepernick?

Michael Skolnik on Twitter: "Decided to put a statue of Kaepernick ...Note: computer generated image, not real. Yet.

Jamie Fox?

Django Unchained | Afterlives of SlaveryDJango: the story of a free man enslaved. Just like BLM is doing again today.

Unfortunately this weekend saw a lot of BLM peeps out and about not practicing any form of “personal responsibility.” No masks, no social distancing and a whole lot of irresponsible white hot lead flying around. This resulted in multiple senseless shootings and deaths in multiple cities across the country. To name but a few locales where clearly Black Lives Didn’t Matter last weekend: Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Atlanta, Greensboro, Detroit, Memphis, St. Louis, Baton Rouge. None of the victims, dead or alive, were shot by police. That’s what happens when you cancel the Po Po.

So you keep rockin’ our world BLM, keep taking a knee. Your hero-savior simply awaits the vote counting:

Vote for me and I promise not to put y'all back in chains.

Although you might want to ask yourself, before you vote, who exactly it is that wants to put you back in the chains of victimhood.

Mamas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Marxists

Does anybody else remember the 2011 Harvard “study” that led to headlines like these all around the country?

Fourth of July Celebrators More Likely to Become Republicans

(ABC News) Attending a Fourth of July fireworks display or flag waving parade as a child slightly increases the likelihood that that kid will grow up to vote Republican, according to a study a team of Harvard University researchers.

Even a single July 4 celebration boosts the chance of turning a kid into a Republican, the study claims.

"One Fourth of July without rain before age 18 increases the likelihood of identifying as a Republican at age 40 by 2 percent, the share of people voting for the Republican candidate at age 40 by 4 percent, and the share of people turning out to vote at age 40 by 0.9 percent," the study concludes.

July 4th patriotic celebrations create more Republicans, Harvard study warns

(LA Times) A new Harvard University study finds that all this July Fourth red-white-and-blue stuff -- the parades and floats, the fire engines and soldiers, flags, fireworks, hand-over-the-heart stuff -- actually helps create more Republicans.

Worse, it also energizes that crowd to participate dutifully in politics and vote in upcoming elections.

While the LA Times piece may be a tad tongue in cheek, as it is from the Political Opinion section, the ABC News report is purportedly straight news. Either way, I’m guessing the Left is pretty proud of themselves this year. They’ve managed to spoil the 4th of July for many Americans by getting most parades and fireworks displays cancelled through a combined whammy of Wuhu Cooties and the Woo-hoo brew of BLM/Antifa protests.

“The goal is to convince Americans that they have nothing to be proud of. The purpose of this is to facilitate turning America into something else.” - Glenn Reynolds

Mamas, please don’t let your babies grow up to Marxists. Take them to a 4th of July celebration as often as you can, no matter where, no matter when.

Much of U.S. scales back on holiday, but Trump is going big ...Oh no! Another right-wing nut in the making!

P.S. That 2011 Harvard “study” that taught every leftist in America to rebuke the 4th of July should tell you everything you need to know about leftists, “studies,” and higher education at institutes like Harvard.
