The Power Of Art

For Pete’s sake, Joey’s at it again – withholding aid for favors:

frozen ukraine aid

The Biden White House has temporarily halted a military aid package to Ukraine that would include lethal weapons, a plan originally made in response to aggressive Russian troop movements along Ukraine’s border this spring.

The aid package would be worth up to $100 million, according to four people familiar with internal deliberations. Politico

Only this time he doesn’t need any more prosecutors fired. And since his surviving son - as Joey refers to him – has taken a new direction in the career department he likewise doesn’t need any more well paying perfunctory board seats. No sir, this time everything’s on the up and up versus the down low. This time all Ukraine needs to do to get the aid package is to become one of the proud anonymous patrons and owners of some of Hunter’s art work, currently expected to bring in up to half a million per piece – and worth every cent of it!

“The palette was wonderful. The space was well-organized. I would buy a couple of them. And anybody who buys it would be guaranteed instant profit.

"He’s the president’s son. Everybody would want a piece of that. The provenance is impeccable.’’ - Alex Acevedo, Manhattan art dealer

Please. Stop already.

hunter genius

Hunter’s art isn’t as penny dreadful as some of today’s lionized artists of little talent, but were he anybody else’s kid launching an art career at 51 he might sell a piece or two for a few hundred bucks to friends and family at a local art fair and that would be it. Let’s not mis-underestimate the “art” value of provenance and progeny vis-à-vis talent.

But back to the Ukraine story: Jen Psaki was quick to correct the aid-on-hold story, saying it just wasn’t so – and she would know I suppose, being the President’s Press Secretary now and all.  Clearly nobody would know the dangers Ukraine faces from Russia better than old Jen, who was on duty as the State Department Spox-person the last time Putin determined that In Russia All Our Former Peoples Are Belong To Us and decided to “annex” Crimea.

jen_psakiThe power of #hashtag turned out to be not as powerful in international circles as it was for #MeToo

Seven years and this red-headed ditz– and I mean that in the nicest way possible – has not only learned nothing, she may have actually grown stupider. Which is what happens to people who refuse to learn from history.

Fashion Friday: We Were Not Designed To Be Forever Young

While Kurt Schlichter points out that this is all you need to know about Critical Race Theory:

kurt schlicter all you need to know about crtAshleigh-the-Lion Shackleford gives a lecture titled "All White People Are Racist" to some white people. *Paypal Me

I would like to point out that it is also all you need to know about fashion. First of all, let me get this out of the way: this has NOTHING to do with Fat Shaming. In fact, after reading the Lion’s self-description

Hunter Ashleigh Shackelford (they/she) is a Black fat cultural producer, multidisciplinary artist, nonbinary shapeshifter, and data futurist based in Atlanta, Georgia, with roots in Richmond, Virginia. They are the creator and director of a Southern body liberation organization, Free Figure Revolution, which focuses on decolonizing antiblack body violence. With bylines in Wear Your Voice Magazine, For Harriet, Buzzfeed, and Teen Vogue, Hunter illustrates the relationship between Blackness, fatness, desire, queerness, and popular culture.

I’m not even sure “they” ARE fat.

What I do know is that I wouldn’t be caught dead wearing that outfit anywhere in public - let alone holding a seminar which I presume is intended to be taken seriously - and I’m pretty sure I weigh less than half what The Lion does. But since the topic today is fashion I would like to remind everyone that it isn’t what you weigh but rather how you choose to display it that reveals your sense, both fashion and common. Ashleigh The Lion appears to have neither.

And now, since it is Fashion Friday, a brief recap of last week’s fashion from the G7 and visit with the Queen. Here is my favorite Dr. Jilly look from the trip:

Screen Capture #1048

…messy fake blonde locks and extensions, tacky bedazzled LOVE jacket, weirdly draped Dalmatian spotted frock

dots coming and goingWhich draped no better in the coming than in the going…

and Minnie Mouse pumps - accessorized by a semi-sentient elder statesman. It manages to capture the entire Biden Presidency in one photo op.

And here is my least favorite:

kate jill2

It’s hard to pinpoint what I hate most: the flouncy, see-through skirt, the floral turned back cuffs that match the jacket pocket flap linings, the ill-fitted shoulders of the hot pink boucle blazer, the embroidered face diaper, the leg plaster?

All I know for sure is that if there were ever a poster child for why older women should wear their hems below the knee – with stockings – this is it.jill and katherine

Honey-babe: we were not designed to be forever young, I don’t care what Bob Dylan said.

“What The Hell? What Do You Do All The Time?”

Everything in Geneva went swimmingly between Joey and Vlad. And if you don’t believe me just ask the acting President himself. He said his meeting with Vlad went “pretty good.” Well, I suppose - if by “pretty good” you mean “train wreck.”

biden trainWhoops, no more track

The degree to which the summit was a disaster became evident when Putin emerged for his press conference — alone with a forum all to himself. (The Biden Team did not want to do a joint presser so held their own)

Putin fielded softball questions from Russian news agencies, but he also welcomed hostile questions from the U.S. media. (In fact, Putin, an enemy of press freedom, was more polite than Biden would be, and took far tougher questions.)

The opportunity to defend his own position, and to attack the United States, without fear of contradiction was a massive gift to the Russian president. He used the old Soviet tactic of pointing to American problems as a way of deflecting from questions about human rights and political opposition. - Joel Pollack

Here’s an example of that fine Soviet style deflection:

When asked about the assassinations of political rivals in his country, Putin responded by implying that the United States had assassinated Ashli Babbitt during the Capitol riot.

“Secondly, I want to ask you: Did you order the assassination of the woman who walked into the Congress and who was shot and killed by a policeman?” Putin asked. “Do you know that 450 individuals were arrested after entering Congress? And they didn’t go there to steal a laptop. They came with political demands. Four hundred and fifty people have been detained. They’re facing jail time, from 15 to 20 years. And they came to Congress with political demands. Isn’t that prosecution for political opinions?”

As a result of Biden’s weak position,

“Putin walked away from Geneva with no significant response to cyberattacks; with the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, which Trump had opposed; and with no real pushback against his aggression in Ukraine…”

The response from America’s media was predictable:

The American media echoed Biden’s posture of appeasement. CNN, which had raised the alarm when Trump and Putin appeared to get along with one another, gushed about Biden’s “optimistic” tone at the summit, and how wonderful it was that Biden and Putin seemed to have had a friendly conversation.

It’s no wonder Biden thinks reporters are “the smartest people in the entire country.”

smartest people in america media

Except, that is, for that one moron who dared asked him a real question.

biden what the hell

Kaitlan’s question:

“Given his past behavior has not changed, and in that press conference, after sitting down with you for several hours, he denied any involvement in cyberattacks, he downplayed human rights abuses, he even refused to say Alexei Navalny’s name. So how does that amount to a constructive meeting, as President Putin framed it?”

Ha! I do love Joey’s response though:

“What the hell? What do you do all the time?…If you don’t understand that, you’re in the wrong business.”

I could say the same about the man currently occupying the White House.

Save Energy: Stop The Gaslighting

Could it be? Has the pendulum arc finally reached the point where science demands it march back in the opposite direction? Could the Woke be waking?

Bill Maher was among the first to stir. He’s exhibited signs of breaking rank from the walking dead repeatedly over the past few years. Now he appears to be laying it all out all on the table.

Last night on Real Time with Bill Maher, the HBO host used his “New Rule” segment of the show to berate liberals for refusing to acknowledge the progress that has been made in America on racial and social issues. (Watch Full Segment Here)

stewart progressophobia

“And yet there’s a recurrent theme on the far-left that things have never been worse!…“This is one of the big problems with wokeness,” he continued, “that what you say doesn’t have to make sense or jive with the facts or even be challenged lest the challenge be conflated with racism.’

“But saying that White power and privilege is at an all-time high is just ridiculous. Higher than a century ago, the year of the Tulsa Race Massacre? Higher than the years when the KKK rode unchecked and Jim Crow went unchallenged? Higher than the 1960s when The Supremes and Willie Mays still couldn’t stay at the same hotel as the White people they were working with? Higher than during slavery?”

Wow, he almost makes me remember back in the day when people were free to disagree with anyone. Back before the prevalent reaction to anything perceived to be heretical was “stop with the logic, and the people, and stuff!”

And now, here comes Jon Stewart, the Millennials’ most beloved political guru, speaking heresy on Stephen Colbert’s first live-audience show since the Chinese Murder Virus came to town. He sends Colbert into near apoplexy when he cuts loose with the truth about that “Wuhan Lab Conspiracy.”

SC:  “What do you mean — do you mean perhaps there’s a chance this was created in a lab? If there’s evidence I’d love to hear it.”

JS:  “A chance? Oh my god, there’s a novel respiratory coronavirus overtaking Wuhan, China. What do we do? Oh, you know who we could ask? The Wuhan novel respiratory coronavirus lab. The disease is the same name as the lab!”

Seriously, what does it mean that Jon Stewart is the Left’s most logical voice? I really think the Left might want to reflect on that question a little.

Still, at least someone acknowledged the truth; better late than never I guess. It’s just that you – and corporate media - are a little more than a year behind the actual information curve. The source of the virus was known as The Wuhan Novel Respiratory Coronavirus Lab in January of 2020 as well.

Wuhan_Institute_of_Virology_main_entrance

But goodness, I do hope Jon realizes that speaking truth to the overlords – or worse, proving that PRESIDENT TRUMP WAS RIGHT AGAIN! - comes with a price. And I’d just like to be the first to say “Jon Stewart didn’t kill himself.”

Maher and Stewart are so old school they probably remember when political satire was a real thing and not just a woke parody of political satire. Possibly they too are thinking it’s time to turn off the gas lights and get back to work. There’s an idea.

gas lightIt is morning and it seems a shame to waste all that energy what with Global Warming and all

Happy Birthday Mr. President From the Marginalized Majority

This was on Gab yesterday on the occasion of our President’s 75th birthday:

trump gabtrump lion

As I read it occurred to me that at one time the Left would have had us believe that the only marginalized people in the world were women and people of color. The term was first used in this context in 1968 as Civil Rights and Women’s Rights ramped into high gear. Merriam-Webster formalized its meaning with the following entry:

marginalize: transitive verb - to relegate to an unimportant or powerless position within a society or group

synonyms: diminish, demean, belittle, denigrate, depreciate, discredit, degrade, deride, discount, dismiss

The progressive Left was so in love with the concept of marginalization that over the decades they honed and perfected the technique in order to use it against their political enemies. And they did so with impunity for years: conservative politicians, Christians, anyone who crossed them.

The media and HR people droned the concept into your head, insisting that such “marginalization” was real, discriminatory and constituted prejudice. Here are the ways they told us marginalization occurred in the workplace:

  • Assuming someone will act a certain way based on stereotypes about their identity (Orange Man Bad)

  • Denying professional opportunities because of aspects of someone’s identity (like, being President)

  • Not providing equal access to resources because of someone’s identity (like, oh say, an unbiased media)

  • Derogatory language or bullying (like, constantly, for 5 years)

  • Singling someone out because of their religious beliefs or cultural practices (like America First)

  • Refusing to recognize good work or consistently taking credit for another’s work (anything good: Obama and Pelosi; anything bad: Trump)

  • Finding ways to isolate someone, like purposefully leaving them out of meetings (like not providing full and accurate info from DOJ, etc., etc.)

  • Blatant disrespect (constantly)

It was a really bad thing. Unless you used it against your mortal enemies. Hence conservative after conservative standing in the way of the Left’s “progress” was taken out over the years  via application of new political methods of marginalization: ridicule, unchecked lies, and prosecutorial malfeasance.

By the time their mortal enemy came along in the form of Donald J. Trump the Democrat/Media Complex were well practiced, bold and dangerous. For 5 years they pummeled this man, his career and his family with lies and manufactured hysteria. And even then,The Donald could not be marginalized enough without blatant cheating and voter fraud.

So here we are: the marginalized non-woke white and black people whose votes have been suppressed, whose voices have been silenced.

It’s not as if we hadn’t been warned.

trump it's not me they're after it's you.

That Ship Has Sailed

I understand that Joey-I won-Georgia-by-4-suitcases-Biden will be meeting with NATO members today. And even though Daddy Warbucks will be bringing the checkbook, to buy back their love, they’ll still be snickering at him. And taking a cue from the G-7 members, they won’t even have the decorum to do so behind his back.

And good old Joey will laugh right along with them, not realizing they’re laughing at him. I suppose that’s not his fault.

Presidential reminders for joey

How do you expect him to remember so many things all at once?

I recall a line from one of Rush’s old parodies, from back in the good old Obama days; it was poking fun of people who were more concerned with what the rest of the world said and thought about America then they were with America doing the right thing. It went something like this:

(in whiny voice) “but the Belgians and the Frogs are laughing at us!”

I confess, I liked it better as parody. But that was back when the US was still the most feared and respected country in the free world. Boy, that ship has sailed.

And now, a h/t from our PINO for Muttday

Joey and Major Biden, at the shelter.

Wow, That’s Fishy

Just when you think you’ve read every unbelievable thing there is to read, there’s this: Cape Cod fisherman OK after whale gulps him down, spits him out. And it’s NOT from the Babylon Bee – it’s from the esteemed Boston Herald.

whale of a story from lobsterman Michael PackardLobsterman Michael Packard narrowly escaped the maw of a whale

A Cape Cod fisherman is recovering after miraculously emerging without serious injuries from spending nearly a minute in the maw of a humpback whale who mistook him for a snack.

“I was lobster diving and a humpback whale tried to eat me,” fisherman Michael Packard wrote on Facebook.

Although it sounds like a modern day Biblical tale of salvation I rather doubt that Michael will now go forth to save the souls of the godless Bostonian Ninevites. More likely the Bostonian vegetarian egalitarians will use his story to promote their conviction that we shouldn’t eat the lobsters that fishermen like Michael catches.

lobster-vegan-poster

Despite the fact that Lobsters themselves are not vegans or even vegetarians.

Lobsters

People used to think that lobsters were scavengers and ate primarily dead things. However, researchers have discovered that lobsters catch mainly fresh food (except for bait) which includes fish, crabs, clams, mussels, sea urchins, and sometimes even other lobsters! – NOAA

It’s called a “food chain” for a reason you know, but wow - lobsters are cannibals; who knew? At least most of us are better than that. I would just point out that if we are to go PETA’s route we’re going to need a LOT more algae and seaweed.

labgrown algaeLab-grown algae specimens

But back to Michael and his story: I suppose it could have happened the way he mis-remembers it. However a lot of people are accusing him of making up a whale of a tale. Some people are wondering exactly whose lobster traps he was checking -

when he was hit by a boat swallowed by a whale.

But for me the real take away from this story is that Facebook has now replaced the Bible for our go-to source on morality plays.

relate to what's on your plate

As well as how vapid our morality plays have become.
