We’re Not Happy Until You’re Not Happy

Don Imus (R.I.P.), New York’s long-running morning drive-time host and impresario was known for driving his guests to distraction. Part of his schtick was to tell them, when their discomfort began to become apparent, “we’re not happy ‘til you’re not happy.”

This is the Imus in the Morning program, We're not happy 'till you're not happy.

I think that’s the motto of the Black Lives Matter/ANTIFA gang as well. So far they’re doing a pretty good job of accomplishing their objective on their own, but CBS decided to give them a little boost anyway:

White silence on social media: Why not saying anything is actually saying a lot.

“It’s incredibly hurtful,” said Broadway star Jelani Alladin. “And you’re telling me that you have no hesitation posting a selfie of yourself… or what you’re eating for dinner, and yet you’re telling me that you’re afraid to say something because you might hurt other people’s feelings? Or you don’t know what to say? Or you don’t have an audience to reach? Were you thinking those things when you posted the other photos? I don’t think you were.”

Social media silence is nuanced. There are people whose feeds have simply gone dark. There are people who, as Alladin notes, have continued posting selfies and pictures of their food as if nothing is wrong. And, as fitness influencer Trammell Logan tells CBS News, it can even be hurtful when white people post messages about #blacklivesmatter side-by-side with more frivolous content.

“In your natural state of being distraught or sadness, if something extremely personal happens to you, I can’t see how you can be in that state and post about it or be about it and then five minutes later like post a cocktail mix, or like you dancing. Our emotions don’t necessarily work like that,” Logan said.

Curiously though, at least based on their Website, CBS hasn’t stopped broadcasting its sitcoms and cop shows in a show of support. - Ed Driscoll

They should get partial credit for taking half a knee.

Apparently CBS’ Tweet promoting the above article -

was getting a huge response, mostly selfies and pictures of food and pets.

Try not to look so happy little guy, or somebody will come along and kick you.

I know it’s Caturday, but you try to find a picture of a happy cat.

If It Does Not Fit You Must Submit

We will now commence day two of the official five day memorial celebration of George Floyd’s life.

Mourners gather for George Floyd memorial service in Minneapolis ...

George Floyd’s death is significant as it marks the first black victim in America to die with the Wu-hoo Cooties, but not deemed to have died from the cooties.

Clearly this is a turning point in the War Against Trump On Cooties. It means we can get back to taking America (and Trump) down the old fashioned way: with racism.

Side fashion note:

Minneapolis memorial service for George Floyd honored his life ...

It is now acceptable to wear your face mask on your hands. But remember: If it does not fit, you must submit. Otherwise you could still transmit.

Pondering the Imponderable: Open Thread

I was up late last working on a post and then couldn’t sleep for the balance of the night. So I haven’t been able to get it together yet this morning. I probably need more sleep and more coffee. Or perhaps I’m not up to the task.

We're gonna need more coffee - Album on Imgur

So I leave you with this, that’s popping up all over Facebook this morning:

Carry on, and don’t forget it’s Throwback Thursday.

Weaponized Wednesday

The word of the year, or perhaps decade:

weaponize:

weap·on·ize | \ ˈwe-pə-ˌnīz

weaponized; weaponizing

Definition of weaponize

transitive verb: to adapt for use as a weapon of war

You’d have to be living in a cave to have not noticed how things have become weaponized in the 21st century, both figuratively and literally. The media, Hollywood, politics, science - everything is fair game as a weapon in the ideological war between the left and right.

Weaponized Zombie with extra ammo…just in case.

Therefore nearly everyone is aware that the left has weaponized race, gender, income, food, medicine, viruses, etc. in order to bludgeon their enemies on the other side of the great divide.

Many people are even aware that the most dangerous thing that’s been weaponized is data and information, although it, along with the weaponization of the education system, has been going on so long by the left that nobody pays any attention anymore. Thus between media and social media lies are able to spread faster than the speed of sound and anger even faster.

And yet Antifa, a communist organization committed to foment revolution and take down capitalism along with our government, has literally weaponized itself and none of our cultural literati care to take note. Antifa organizes, trains and executes its strategies in plain sight and the media is gloriously incurious, choosing to focus instead on the non-existent Russian collusion, Ukrainian hijinks and President Trump’s role in the spread of the Wuhan Coronavirus.

Todd Herman covers Antifa’s history at Legal Insurrection:

Antifa: well organized, practiced in street warfare, entering into Phase Two of Mao’s rules for Insurgencies.

Antifa loves guns, they have a militia arm and they have practiced seizing civilian infrastructure, part of Phase Two on Mao’s rules for Insurgencies

In notoriously anti-Second Amendment Seattle, Antifa open-carried. They commandeered a couple of blocks, as their “security arm”, the John Brown Gun Glub, prevented citizen journalist, and expert on Antifa and its funders, Andy Ngo, from filming the goings on. The Seattle media was incurious.

Between the figuratively weaponized aspects of our culture and the literal weaponization of a terrorist group dedicated to ending our way of life it appears hopeless. Even more reason to rally around a President who doesn’t  accept the concept of “hopeless.”

“We shall nobly save, or meanly lose, the last best hope of earth.”

And now Raj and I have to get to the recently re-opened gun range.

It’s Take Out Tuesday: Antifa Edition

It’s Take Out Tuesday. The list of people/organizations I would like to take out is long and growing longer. Feel free to add additional names to the list.

  • Antifa
  • Governor Cuomo , Mayor De Blasio along with their counterparts across the country who are allowing their states/cities to be destroyed and their cops attacked.

200601_Yang_NYP___Protests___Looting_25

  • The CNN team, along with the rest of the entire leftist media cabal
  • Antifa

Thumbnail

  • Hypocritical “celebrities” supporting this violence in any way.

  • Helpless/useless politicians of any ilk, too numerous to mention.

And in case I forgot to mention them,

  • Antifa

Take them out, take them all out. These reprehensible, culpable individuals and mobs who are committed to taking this country and this President down. Time to deploy the Left’s standards against them: take them out, by any means possible.

May We Be Forever Young

This malaise we are feeling now must be how our parents and grandparents felt during the late 60s. Back when the assassination of Martin Luther King and then Robert F. Kennedy led to the long hot summer of 1967 that saw race riots break out across America. Fires of raged in over 100  U.S. cities that year.

Understanding Detroit's 1967 Upheaval 50 Years Later | History ...Fire during the 1967 race riot in Detroit

Then came the long hot summer of 1968. Anti-war factions showed up at the Democrat Convention that year, some to peacefully demonstrate and support Eugene McCarthy’s candidacy,

others to simply create discord and mayhem

50 Years Ago: Antiwar Protesters Brutally Attacked in Police Riots ...

with frequently bloody results. Mayor Daley was criticized by the media for using “Gestapo like” tactics against demonstrators, hence we seldom see that type of police response anymore. As youths, we assumed it was an organic protest, sprouted from rage over the Vietnam which was taking so many of our young men. Our elders simply shook their heads in sadness and wondered what the hell happened to America.

Then there was 1968-69, which saw the great Hong Kong Flu pandemic descend on America and the world.

Forgotten Pandemic Offers Contrast to Today's Coronavirus ...

Of course we didn’t shut down the entire economy that time because Donald Trump wasn’t President, and no power base was at stake.

Andrew Cuomo on Twitter: "Holding a briefing with updates on ...

Fifty plus years on and we watch as history replays itself in spades. And dear Lord help us, as the earth will always be filled with saboteurs, extremists, agent provocateurs and useful idiots.  While some of us grew older and wiser, others simply grew older. And alas, the world will always be forever young.

May God bless and keep you always.
May your wishes all come true.
May you always do for others
And let others do for you.

May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung
And may you stay
Forever young.

May you grow up to be righteous.
May you grow up to be true.
May you always know the truth
And see the light surrounding you.

May you always be courageous,
Stand upright, and be strong
And may you stay
Forever young.

Forever young.
Forever young.
May you stay
Forever young.

May your hands always be busy.
May your feet always be swift.
May you have a strong foundation
When the winter changes shift.

May your heart always be joyful.
May your song always be sung
And may you stay
Forever young.

We’re All Marxists Now: Part II

A major mea culpa, I spoke too soon. Salt Lake is not the model for peaceful protest after all. While most of the good little Marxist wannabes more-or-less stayed in their cars as they were told…

there are always going to be the bad actors who won’t follow the rules.

#Breaking A @slcpd vehicle has been flipped over and set on fire at 400 S 200 E

This is right in front of Salt Lake’s Public Library, generally considered a very safe area. Or at least it was until recently. The last time I drove by, just before the Great Cootie Lockdown of 2020, the vagrants homeless had set up a tent encampment on the back side of the library that ran for a couple blocks.

Amid shelter closing, SLCC amps up support of basic needs ...

I’m not saying this had anything to do with the turned over police cars, just a statement of fact.

Elsewhere lazy white people continued to protest peacefully, even if they didn’t stay in their own lane as instructed.

And then there was this dude: Driver pulls BOW & ARROW on protesters blocking road in Salt Lake City

A brave but stupid move as he a) did not shoot and b) was stopped in gridlock. He was pounced on, pummeled by demonstrators and his car was flipped and set on fire.

So now, because “a protest denouncing racism and deadly force by law enforcement turned violent Saturday afternoon as protesters set two cars on fire and threw rocks at the windows of businesses and cars while police responded with rubber bullets and arrests,” Gov. Gary Herbert activated the National Guard and the city is under curfew through tomorrow. Similar to stay-at-home but without all the hand washing.

Really not a good look Salt Lake. But as I’ve mentioned many times before, SLC isn’t the conservative enclave of Republicans you think it is. Wherever there be large cities there be Democrats. And wherever there be Democrats there be government handouts and gimme dats. That’s just the Great Society we created.
