Trampling The Constitution One Amendment At A Time

Trampling the Constitution because it isn’t ‘woke’ enough has turned into a daily work out for Progressives. I think it’s cute that they profess to believe in the principles of both the First and Second Amendment while spending a great deal of time and effort to violate and destroy them.

The assault on the Second Amendment has been so well documented and become so ingrained in the sheeple brain that little towns across America feel empowered to virtue signal their disdain by passing illegal legislative bans:

Deerfield residents with assault weapons may sell them, hand them over to police or move them out of the village within 60 days of the ordinance going into effect. There are exceptions for law enforcement officers and members of the military.

The ordinance imposes fines of $1000 a day for each item of contraband without a grandfathering clause or compensation plan for the loss of property; how is that not also a violation of the Fourth Amendment?

watertown-searchWe’ve come for your ‘assault’ rifles…with ‘assault’ rifles

When it comes to the First Amendment the Left is even more adamant that they are the Great Believers. But their idea of freedom of speech applies exclusively to the type of speech they find  to be both appropriate and inoffensive (to them). Hence we have the era of political correct speech, the “de-platforming” of conservative voices on campus and the firing of people like Brendan Eich at Mozilla and James Damore at Google who do not reflect the approved position on social issues. Consider the recent firing of Kevin Williamson, a token conservative voice, from The Atlantic after just one week on the job for his views on abortion, and the way he chose to express them. To be clear, in Progressive First Amendment World if you hold opinions or views contrary to the prevailing Progressive zeitgeist you WILL be silenced.

Ben Domenech explains in Firing Kevin Williamson Is Just the Beginning:

This story is a predictable continuation of the left’s ownership not just of media but indeed of all institutions. It is depressing. It is predictable. And it is where we are as a country now. It is not confined to the realm of ideas. Eich, Damore, Williamson and others are subject to blacklists and HR reports and firing in every arena of industry and culture. If you have wrongthink, you will not be allowed for long to make your living within any space the left has determined they own – first the academy, then the media, then corporate America, and now the public square. You will bake the cake, you will use the proper pronoun, and you will never say that what Planned Parenthood does is murder for hire, and should be punished as such under the law.

He also points out that the case for such censure was made by neo-Marxists from the Frankfort School such as Herbert Marcuse way back in the mid-20th century; and we all know that the Left never gives up, they just keep chipping away. The rationale is laid out here:

Marcuse argued that, because of the radical repressiveness of Western society, a tolerance for all viewpoints actually contributed to social oppression. A pervasive network of assumptions and biases implicitly privileges the viewpoint of the powerful, so that seemingly “equal” presentations of opposite opinions actually end up benefiting the viewpoint of the powerful… Because of social programming, the inhabitants of a given society automatically favor certain values. The ideological playing field’s lack of levelness means that seemingly equal presentations of ideas are not really equal.

the-myth-of-cultural-marxismIt’s also known as ‘Cultural Marxism’

In the light of this situation, Marcuse made a rather cunning inversion (one that has been aped countless times since by cultural organs across the United States): The fact that society is so radically unequal means that we should be intolerant and repressive in the name of tolerance and liberty. He rejected what he termed “indiscriminate tolerance” — a tolerance that accepts all viewpoints — in favor of “liberating tolerance” or “discriminating tolerance.” Unlike many of his disciples, Marcuse was frank about what this intolerance would mean: “Liberating tolerance, then, would mean intolerance against movements from the Right and toleration of movements from the Left.

So now you know where this whole idea of “privilege” - white, male, CIS, Christian, etc. – comes from: the Frankfort School of Cultural Marxism.  And if the Left gets its way your privileged intolerance will no longer be tolerated. Got it?

#FLOTUSFRIDAY – More White Privilege Edition

Remember when children and spouses in the White House were off limits? When criticizing them would earn you a quick trip out of town? But President Trump has changed everything; now you can openly mock them…and be lauded for your efforts.

Nearly as hysterical as the Oscars, Jimmy! Keep up the good work.

Seriously? A professional comedian mocking our FLOTUS’ accent?  That’s pretty low even for the MSM. He’s mocking a legal immigrant who speaks five languages while welcoming with hugs and tears illegal aliens who speak only one language, and it isn’t English.

AP_18092682774152

Even Barron (who just turned 12 a few weeks ago) is not off limits presumably because, unlike Sasha (Wee Won 2) and Malia (Wee Won 1), not only does he have that white privilege mantle but he’s also carrying a ton of toxic masculinity. You can’t start bashing on a little White Boy too soon.

Man, in less than 3 minutes former comedian Jimmy Kimmel managed to check an awful lot of the boxes normally projected onto our Very Stable Genius himself:

  • anti-immigrant bias
  • misogyny
  • bullying
  • boorishness
  • intolerance

To quote our President: “Sad.”

And I would just wrap up by pointing out that neither Kimmel or any of our other great comedians have ever once thought of making fun of Hillary’s accent - and hers was fake:

Hillary speaking her second language, Ebonics.

I note that the late night television franchise currently an awful lot of white privilege and toxic masculinity.

I vote we boycott all their sponsors until such time as they introduce a little more diversity. And bitter old men with beards don’t count.

#ThrowbackThursday: White (Democrat) Privilege Edition

Chappaquiddick, the movie, is going to be released nationwide tomorrow, nearly 50 years after the actual incident nearly deep-sixed Teddy Kennedy’s political career. It might surprise you to know that there is an entire generation that has never even heard of Chappaquiddick let alone Mary Jo Kopechne1, including the movie’s thirty-something screenwriters Taylor Allen and Andrew Logan.

“This is our first screenplay; it was something that we had been really passionate about since we first heard about Chappaquiddick. Which, despite being reasonably politically engaged people, I hadn’t heard of it until 2008 during the primary for that year’s presidential election…We were just so surprised to have never heard of it before.”Box Office

Evidence that public education has adopted the former U.S.S.R.’s practice of historical negationism.

The movie, predictably, has the Twitterverse atwitter:

ben shapiro

All of which leads to the inevitable second guessing: if the media had done its job in 1969 we wouldn’t be dealing with the fallout from Teddy Kennedy’s disastrous 1965 Immigration and Nationality Act. The take home from that revelation is that nothing much has changed with the media in 50 years: they’re still protecting their favored leftist icons, no matter how flawed. The only difference is that now you can add the FBI to the list of partisan hacks who would do anything to prevent their “guy” (trigger warning! sexist!) from going down.

It should be interesting to see the reviews for this movie. As always, Mary Jo Kopechne was unavailable for comment.

#OpenWhineWednesday: Riding the Corduroy Into the Sunset

cordouroy grooming at deer valleyFreshly groomed corduroy slopes at Deer Valley, before they turn to mush

So here’s the deal, today is our last ski day of the season. Technically the resort is open through Sunday but the weather for the rest of the week is going to be warm and/or rainy. Now, there was a time when I loved skiing in spring’s soft, slushy, corn snow. But that time was about 20 years ago, when my knees still had reasonably functioning cartilage and tendons that still had a little stretch left in them. So today is it: the last day of the season that’s cold enough to glide over the snow rather than sinking in up to your ankles as if you were skiing through wet cement.

So here’s your Wednesday Whine: there’s no proper post today. As for my Wednesday Whine: my knees are no longer as young and lithe as they once were.

ski jumpers

So we’ll probably be stopping for the day around lunchtime where I’ll toast the end of the season and pray that we will be granted several more before having to hang up the skis permanently.

It Was Different Then. Get The Point?

As a small army of unknown and unvetted immigrants from who-knows-where marches through Mexico to cross the border and enter the U.S. as “refuges” the MSM is more interested in the surprised looking Easter Bunny at the White House Easter Egg Roll. Because any day that provides them an opportunity to make fun of our President is a good day for the media.

bunny shots

I guess they forgot the time the same traumatized bunny showed up with Bubba and BO.

                  Clintonwpid-obamabunnydowning_450x363

But then, for the MSM, the only history that matters is the history they report. And they don’t remember ever reporting that labor activist and Democrat folk hero, Cesar Chavez, was vehemently opposed to illegal immigration. And besides that was different.

“In the 1960s, Cesar Chavez, one of the main founders of the United Farm Workers, vehemently opposed illegal immigration, arguing it undermined his efforts to unionize farm workers and improve working conditions and wages for American citizens.”

Because when Democrats do it, it’s for the common good.

#MondayMoanin’ Post Easter Edition

I really don’t have anything to moan about today. Yesterday was lovely, 60 degrees, bright sunshine and a light breeze. This has been an unusually dry winter in the West with snowfall way below average. That bodes ill for the summer when fire danger will run high and reservoirs will run low. For now the ski resorts are still open but down in the valley the snow is gone, the hiking trails are getting busy and the annual migration has started.

WILLOW CREEKEaster Sunday along the Willow Creek trail

I noted that there was some discussion yesterday about the migrating hoards. I spotted a couple of them myself while out on the trails. The pictures are not great as they took me by surprise and all I had with me was my phone which I just aimed in their general direction, blinded by the light, and hoped for the best. I literally caught them on the fly:

It’s the migrating sand hill cranes! Doing a stop-over from who-knows-where on their way to who-knows-where.

CRANE11

Unlike our other “migrants” these guys actually do migrate; they hang around awhile and then they move on.

After our morning hike we went home to fix the paella. Per Gerard’s suggestion, who didn’t think fixing paella on the grill without the use of a screen was a good idea, we tried the grill screen.  It worked fine for the rice, but when we added the stock it ran right through and put the fire out. So it was back to the old paella pan, which turned out a very respectable dinner for four:

There’s really a ton of saffron and paprika flavored rice under all that chicken and seafood. So a good time was had by all, I hope everyone else had a great Easter too.

And now I guess it’s time to turn our attention back to the other migrating hoard coming to America with no intention of ever migrating back. migrants marching through mexico

What could possibly go wrong? (HORROR IN DUISBURG, GERMANY: Police Called After 80 Men Brawl in the Street with MACHETES.) I’m guessing Germany never thought it could happen there either.

Easter Sunday 2018

And he said unto them, Be not amazed: you seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified: he is risen;

He is not here: behold the place where they laid him.

And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you. - Mark 16:6

And Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: He that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? John 11: 25-26

On this day when Christians around the world celebrate this most holy of Christian holidays I would like to wish all who gather here a very happy and blessed Easter. If you are a believer celebrate with joy the miracle of the Resurrection. And if you are not, enjoy this beautiful, joyful day to rest, reflect, renew. The old world will pick up and continue on its way tomorrow and, God willing, we will too.

Raj and I are planning to prepare a rather non-traditional Easter meal: paella on the grill. Who knows. it could become a tradition. Then later we will have our annual viewing of The Ten Commandments to commemorate Passover – which is traditional. So enjoy your day, we’ll all be back on duty tomorrow.
