Caturday: Final Day of Passover Edition

the-original-rabbi-cat-1-2584-1355272589-3_big

The 8th and final day of Passover 2022 is celebrated today.

Many people have the custom to make sure that the matzah does not come in contact with moisture, lest some leftover flour become leavened. On the eighth day of Passover, this restriction is relaxed, and matzah can be mixed with water and other liquids to create Passover favorites like matzah balls and matzah brei. Read the deeper meaning behind the laxity on the eighth day.

Ladies Beware: Dyngus Day Is Upon Us

Screen Capture #117

Dyngus Day, also known as Smigus Dyngus, is a Roman Catholic celebration held on Easter Monday across Central Europe, and in small parts of Eastern and Southern Europe. The tradition is widely associated with Poland and is observed by Polish Diaspora communities, particularly among Polish Americans.

Doesn’t sound so ominous does it gals? But traditionally on Dyngus Day, boys

Legend has it, that the tradition started as a way for a boy to show his affection a girl. I don’t know about you, but a nice flower or dinner and a movie worked better for me.

Deliver us from evil: Exodus 20-13.

Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.

Easter wishes to all on this, the most holy day of the Christian calendar.

I hope you all enjoy your holiday ham and marshmallow bunnies. I’ve been assigned to prepare Easter dinner for Raj, Little Mo and Little Bo, and then later we’ll be watching The Ten Commandments to commemorate Passover. So I don’t have  much time today, butt will be back on duty tomorrow.

Happy Easter, and Happy Passover to one and all. Please join me in planning another Exodus in January 2023.
