Throwback Thursday: The Turkey Trot

It looks like there was another Dem debate last night. The only thing different from their first 50 or so was the jacket Lizzy chose to wear; this one was hip length rather than cropped at the waist. I think it’s a subliminal message of some sort but it went over my head.

And check out this  pre-debate photo: the most disturbing aspect about is the fact that Joe Biden looks the most presidential of the lot.

As usual I didn’t watch but the highlights reel was pretty entertaining: filled with the usual references to Medicare for all, housing shortages, climate change, the top 1%, a couple classic “Just Joe Being Joe” gaffes and a few mean girl taunts from the gals. I suspect the audience was slim as most Dems were exhausted after enduring 11 straight hours of “impeachment investigation hearings.”

In fact the entire day must have been demoralizing for Dems because - as Prof. William Jacobson points out in his  “While you were focused on (fill in the blank) Trump continued to remake the federal judiciary” series - the President just flipped the 11th Circuit:

Even as the House Intelligence Committee on Wednesday heard crucial testimony from pivotal witness Gordon Sondland, the Senate voted to confirm Trump’s latest appointee to the Atlanta-based 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, a regional appeals court handling cases from Georgia, Alabama and Florida.

So with that in hand I feel perfectly fine switching the focus of today’s Throwback Thursday post to vintage Thanksgiving pieces. I grew up with Turkey Day artifacts similar to these:

I can’t speak to the turkey ware but I’m certain the white, Christian, gun toting bible clinging Pilgrim candles are racist so you will not want to be caught using them anymore.

And that reminds me: Thanksgiving Recipe Day is quickly approaching, I’m thinking Sunday. Be prepared.
