Memorial Day 2011

Happy Memorial Day to everyone. And a special thanks to all of our service men and women, past and present, who serve and have served to protect and preserve our country and our liberty. Words of course are inadequate to acknowledge the sacrifice they and their families have made.

So enjoy your picnics, parades and celebrations today. But do pause to remember and honor the brave Americans who have stood across time to fight the tyrannies that have threatened the endurance of the great American experiment.

And as we honor our troops, remember it is important that we pass on to the next generation the reasons we fight: an important fact often overlooked in the pursuit of teaching children a more “balanced” view of history that focuses on America’s imperialist misdeeds across the centuries. Propaganda via the public miseducation system that results in such ignorance breeds apathy at best and disdain at worse. We have our work cut out for us, so man up MO/YLs and MO/YDs! After we take back the government, we have to take back the education system too. So stay strong.

Here’s a special treat from an American Idol (in my book anyway), Pia Toscano, singing the National Anthem yesterday evening at the National Memorial Day concert in Washington D.C.

Raj is going to help me make chocolate chip cookies today to send to the troops, so we’re taking the rest of the day off.

Happy Memorial Day troops!
