You’re probably wondering which “Senior White House Staffer” yelled at Bob Woodward for over a half hour. Apparently the disagreement was over Bob’s insistence on maintaining a smidgen of journalistic integrity with respect to reporting on the origin of the Grand Sequester Bargain. Bob stood firm that it was originally BO’s idea; even in the face of withering disapproval and untold backlash that’s bound to kill the career of the veteran Washington Post reporter - who was the first to break the Watergate scandal that brought down the Nixon White House.
Butt, as the Plouf-daddy points out, Bob’s pretty much outrun his usefulness around here.
I’m not at liberty to divulge the name of the official yeller of course, butt if you guess on your own that’s not my fault. Let’s review the usual suspects:
#1, Jay Jay
#2, our new Chief of Staff, Denis McDonough
#3, Pete Rouse, Counselor to the President
He looks like the Pillsbury Dough Boy, for goodness sake.
#4, Valarie Jarrett, Senior Advisor and Consigliore to the President
I’m not saying any more; even Lady M watches her step around Val (and I haven’t tested my firewall lately)
For the record, according to BuzzFeed’s Ben Smith it was Gene Sperling, former director of the White House Economic Council, who was dispatched to intimidate reason with Woodward. Butt come on: It’s BuzzFeed. And while Gene may look like a mini-me, in his purple tie and all:
He’s really more of an undercover intelligence agent than a hit man.
Besides, does it really matter whose idea the sequester was anyway? It’s not as if it’s a bad thing, right?
And like Bob Woodward, I’m pretty sure Big Guy still has the power to order his aircraft carriers to go anywhere he wants them.
“We have these things called aircraft carriers, where planes land on them.” Barack Obama, October 22, 2013
Especially given that he’s - you know - got more flexibility now that he’s been reelected:
2011 Veteran’s Day Shoot-out (can I say that?) on the USS Carl Vinson
Shoot, he could even deploy them to host this year’s NCAA Sweet Sixteen playoffs, if he wanted to.
