Are you better off than you were 40 years ago? Well are 'ya punk?

What a line-up! The DNC, has a blockbuster opening act (Lady M), butt she’s still in detox/cleansing and rehearsals:

black and white and white“All this for a damn hag?” No,wait, that’s not right TOTUS!

Plus we have a whole bunch of Hollywood “A-listers” lined up: Sarah Jessica Parker, George Clooney, Anne Hathaway, Ben Affleck, Sheryl Crow, Susan Sarandon, Oprah – no wait, that was last time. I guess they all have previous commitments this year.

So let’s just focus on Lady M, shall we?

mo's nice stride Blue carpet arrival

mo close upMakeup!

mo just ike hollywoodWardrobe!

The DNC really is just like Hollywood. Oh, and speaking of Hollywood, here’s who will be there: Jeff Bridges, James Taylor, Jessica Alba and Eva Longoria. So okay, basically B+ listers this year. Or, in some cases, C-listers:

That’s right! Big Guy’s Choomwagon crew!

151199717Lady M knuckle knockin’ with Kumar (I HOPE that’s not racist)

Yep! That Kal Penn!

Even before we get officially underway, our DNC Washerwoman Chairwoman has been working hard to set the tone for this important election:

Debbie Wasserman Schultz says the Republican Party only had “superficial” diversity on display at its convention in Tampa last week —a contrast to Democrats reflecting actually “the rich diversity that we know is so important in Americans.”

Because we know there’s nothing more important than diversity:

economic table

“Last week, the Republicans put a lot of different folks up on the stage,” Wasserman Schultz said on POLITICO Live Monday. “It’s actions that matter, not just words.”

Right-on, right-on, right-on, Little Debbie!! Just ask the citizens of Detroit about actions vs. words! Detroit has enjoyed over 40 years of exclusive Democratic control.

detroit

During that time the citizens of that city have enjoyed not just the words, butt the actions of these Democratic regimes policies.

And remember, it’s their actions that are most important:

detroit_hudsonwallfallHudson’s (RIP) once magnificent flagship store demolished by implosion in 1998, the site still stands empty today, 14 years later.

“The cheering had stopped as the immense reality of the event sobered all who viewed it. An emptiness followed and the guilt of our cheers weighed upon us.

The choking clouds dissipated and a ghastly scene was revealed. An inch of dust covered everything for blocks around and there, in the midst of it all, lay the smoldering and shattered heart of 20th Century downtown Detroit.”

detroit end of the lineAll of their words, all of their actions, all lead to the same empty place.

Meanwhile, Joey B was in Detroit yesterday for a Labor Day rally where he told the crowd:

Let me make something clear, say it to the press: America is better off today, than they left us when they left. And if it weren’t so hot, I’d go into detail why I say that…

And if it weren’t so hot, maybe Detroit wouldn’t be burning up.

And maybe if it weren’t so hot Big Guy wouldn’t be breaking a sweat.

And if it weren’t so hot, this empty chair wouldn’t be such a joke.

WARNING: NEW COMMENT SYSTEM. Won More Empty Chair

Raj is set to CHANGE my comment system over to Disqus tonight. I HOPE Fingers crossed everything will work out okay. As I reported earlier, Echo, is going out-of-business  shortly (thanks, Big Guy, Won more empty chair)

2 empty chairs in the echo chamberMake that 2 empty chairs in the Echo Chamber

So gone will be all of our double-double echoes. Also gone butt not missed will be the post “poofings” and login problems (again, I HOPE). I will miss several of the features that led me to select Echo in the first place: “rich text” hyperlinking ability and displaying names/avatars of “likees.”  Butt that’s apparently the price of moving FORWARD..

As many of you already know from using Disqus on other sites, it has image and video embedding, “likes” and many login options. They also promise to add more features in the future (Where have I heard that before?) butt I have to convert before I find out exactly what’s in it.

The worst part of this CHANGE is that all our old comments will vanish, HOPE-fully just temporarily until Raj can get Echo to do a final synch, which should allow him to re-post our old comments. Most likely we’ll lose all the old embedded images & videos Crying face butt like I said, moving FORWARD. is not free.

forward with empty chairsThat’s a lot of empty chairs

Anyone who hasn’t used Disqus before can check out the cool  Disqus tutorial Raj put together for us, and he’s also volunteered to help anybody who has trouble. Isn’t he swell? He said he’s finished giving TOTUS all his pre-scam-paign updates, so the only thing big Guy has him working on is his Organizing for Obama Dashboard (I’ll fill you in on that later).

So, hang onto your mouses(?), meeses(?) and let’s go where MOTUS has never gone before.

I HOPE this works!

Change over scheduled for 10:00 pm EDT tonight.

UPDATE: Secret Security goons are lurking everywhere in the Big White tonight. They’ve been assigned to find out who put the empty chair in front of the Big White (more on that tomorrow) so I’m jumping to Disqus a little early. Raj has to take my firewall down while he does the conversion, and he wants to complete it while the SS is still prowling the West Wing. I’m sure everything will be fine, butt remember if you have any problems, anxiety or concerns you can contact Raj at raj.rajaroni@gmail.com (or click on his email in the sidebar) and he will get back to you ASAP with expert technical advice, in English. Although, he doesn’t get up very early.

I’m sure we’ll have you all back on line in short order. Fingers crossed Butt remember, all the old comments will “go dark” (is that racist?) for awhile until Raj can do his final sync.

Empty Chairs and Empty Pockets

It’s Labor Day! Which Professor Jacobson reminds us is Empty Chair Day across America! So slow down, get off the expressway and take a break:

empty chair penn ave

We need a little time out from the failed policies, and folding chairs that brought us to where we are today.

gateway punditH/T Gateway Pundit

All across America today, people will be displaying their empty chairs to remind us of the choice we have coming up in November.

BBC-010_Front_1__39663_zoom__25133 Even Big Guy’s barber will skip today’s bi-weekly haircut

And there will be many other chairs left standing empty across the country today:

They will be joined by all the empty factories,

and empty houses

all of which adds up to an awful lot of empty dreams. And a lot of empty chairs at empty tables.

empty chairs at empty tables

If you’re wondering who to blame for this mess, look no further than the Sunday shows, where all the O-Team boys showed up to explain why this quagmire (is that racist?) we’re in is actually the result of George W. Bush’s failed policies.

Opposing views, of course, hold that what actually created that “housing bubble” that led to the credit meltdown under George W. Bush’s watch went back much further. Yes! Some even trace it all the way back to anti-red-lining legislation started under the Johnson administration! Butt it didn’t get kicked into sub-prime territory until the Jimmy Carter administration (Community Reinvestment Act,1977) and fully implemented under Bill Clinton’s new Federal Reserve rules!

This is getting confusing; I know everyone thought it was George W. Bush’s fault, and his friends at Wall Street banks. This makes it seem like it’s the Dem’s sub-prime meltdown?!! Well at least that explains why Big Guy was involved in it: With landmark lawsuit, Barack Obama pushed banks to give subprime loans to Chicago’s African-Americans.

Here’s the short version of the 9 page Daily Caller story: When he was a community organizer, Big Guy filed suit on behalf of poor black people who were denied mortgages by City Bank because they couldn’t afford the monthly payments, (How racist can you get, Big Bank?) demanding that they give them loans anyway. Which they did, after Big Guy (along with Clinton’s Federal Reserve and Anti-Trust department) coerced City Bank to settle the case by using their shareholder’s money  to write a bunch of bad debts anti-red-lining mortgages.

Because not giving loans to people who can’t afford them is racist. Unfortunately, most of Big Guy’s 186 plaintiffs really couldn’t afford them, (which made them sub-prime)  butt took them anyway and ended up losing their credit and their house. And now they think THAT’S somebody else’s fault too:

“If you see some people don’t make enough money to afford the mortgage, why would you give them a loan?” asked Obama client John Buchanan. “There should be some type of regulation against giving people loans they can’t afford.” [note: there used to be; it was called “common sense” before it was renamed “red-lining”]

Banks “were too eager to lend to many who didn’t qualify,” said Don Byas, another client who saw banks lurch from caution to bubble-inflating recklessness. [note: they had to have their arms twisted into being “too eager”]

I don’t care what race you are. … You need to keep financial wisdom [separate] from trying to help your people,” said Byas, an autoworker. [note: Duh!]

As Axe-man pointed out yesterday morning “it took years to create the crisis that erupted in 2008.”  It sure did. All the way back to 1977.

So think about all that today when you see all those empty chairs sitting on lawns across America:

And ponder the, apparently, imponderable answer to the question: “Are you better off today than you were 4 years ago?” (H/T Ronald Reagan)

Mr. Sandman, Bring Me A Dream

A Little Traveling Music, Please… (h/t: Jackie Gleason)

Mr. Sandman: The Chordettes

So let me see if I’ve got this straight: we made fun of Clint, butt this, this is considered…high art?

obama-sand

Apparently the giant sand sculpture of Big Guy commissioned for the opening of the DNC was damaged by a strong storm that blew in from out of nowhere.

obamasand_s640x857 The damage incurred all came from the Right

So let me just ask the Big Brains orchestrating the optics of this year’s convention: what on earth were you thinking? The DNC OWNS irony, and you totally MISS the burlesque inherent in building your icon out of sand? I give up.

unicornThe Unicorn sculpture fell over too, and couldn’t be transported to the convention

Is our education system so broken that nobody in the  chain of command at the DNC saw that a reference to heroes with feet of clay was one thing, butt throwing in a whole statue made of sand and clay made it into something else altogether?

“This great image, whose brightness was excellent, stood before thee; and the form thereof was terrible.
This image's head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass,
His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay.”
(
Daniel 2:31-33)
...
”And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters' clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay.
And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.”(Daniel 2:41-43)

A divided kingdom!?? “Partly strong, and partly broken!?”  Under the first Post Modern, Post Partisan, Post Racial  President? While ironic, I don’t think that’s even funny.

obama-feet-on-desk3Some people think those clay feet are made for walkin’

I don’t think even Clint Eastwood could make it funny.

                                                   H/T DAILYBRISKobamahopechair

Besides, the sand sculpture is just creepy. Did they hire the same artist who “restored” that Spanish fresco?

USA/Or just some partisan hack who dabbles in the arts?

Furthermore, I thought Team-O learned their lesson about building things out of sand with the GM and Chrysler bailouts.

Jeep-036-w-s4sand-sculptures volt10

Things built of sand tend not to last; falling victim to either the winds of sea-change:

jeep tsunamiSandCarArt

or to a complete meltdown.(h/t Doug Ross)

111231-fire-at-car-dealer via doug rossThe Chevy Volt get’s great mileage, although it’s very expensive and runs a little hot.

Maybe I’m just overreacting. Everyone else around here seems to think we’ve got this thing in the bag:

“I don’t want you to leave here thinking I’ve got my feet up on my f------ desk and I’m sanguine,” Axelrod says after a 51-minute interview in which he surveys the landscape and finds nothing but roses for Obama and thorns for GOP nominee Mitt Romney. “I’m not! I treat this as a struggle to the end, and we’re going to fight that way.”

What’s with everyone wanting to stick their feet on the furniture around here?

Anyway, I’m just saying, if you believe in omens, a big wind knocking your icon made in sand over just before your national convention is probably not a good one.

What do I know though? I’m not one of the really Big Brains around here.

bo on beach copyAs a great storm gathers on the horizon, the lifeguard chair remains unmanned.

Butt how smart do you have to be to know that a big wind or a big wave can wipe away your footsteps in the sand?

Dirty Harry: In Obama’s Kitchen, Punk!

It looks like R2 has gotten into Big Guy’s kitchen again. And this time they’re eating his Twinkies.

twinkiethekidHey, aren’t those Twinkies a little…racist?

You can tell R2 raided the Twinkie supply in Big Guy’s pantry because everybody’s still talking about Clint Eastwood’s empty chair this morning, 2 days after the fact. (I know “kitchen cabinet” is racial code, butt I think “pantry” is still okay. Just to be safe though, I checked my Condensed Liberal Handbook of Racial Code Words.)

racial code word guide                                                                              h/t Iowa Hawk

Anyway, the empty chair threw Big Guy’s teamsters into overdrive. They’ve pulled out all the stops to employ RULE 12: “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Unfortunately Dirty Harry doesn’t seem to give a rat’s patoot about them or their opinions. In fact it may well have made his day, which always diminishes the effect of RULE 12.

Anyway, about those Twinkies: they may not be around much longer for the R-words to eat.  It seems that between Lady M’s War on Childhood Obesity and Big Guy’s War on Success, Twinkies has filed bankruptcy. Just between you and me, I suspect there’s  more involved here than meets the eye. Twinkies’ parent company, Hostess, is a major rival of McKee Foods, maker of, wait for it…Little Debbie Snack Cakes!

nutty-debbie-shultz.via vanderleunjpg

And we all know how much Big Guy enjoys his Little Debbie, along with an occasional Cosmic Brownie after a big night day:

cosmic brownies

Anyway, proof that Clint’s routine - which will forevermore be known as “Eastwooding” - got in Big Guy’s kitchen is captured by this WaPo blog:

Rattled and bitter that they could not knock the Romney-Ryan ticket off-message, the Obama team and its allies in the blogosphere fixated on Clint Eastwood. Listen, I was there and it was darn weird. But at times it was funny and devastating in its dismissal of the president’s excuses. And in clips and sound bites the day after the live performance, the oddness is diminished and the punch lines seem more biting. In simple terms, the movie icon encapsulated the message of the convention: If someone is doing a bad job, you have to fire him.

Even more to the point: (h/t Fausta via Gerard)

Representing President Obama by an empty chair is salient, high concept, and very much to the point.

Which is exactly why Clint’s chair landed in Big Guy’s kitchen, prompting an immediate response from his cabinet:

bo in his chairTrust me, we KNOW it’s OCCUPIED

It was actually a quick Photoshop of the original, below. We were holding it for next week’s DNC for a little humor of our own: to demonstrate how BO has gotten over his reputation for being thin skinned about people making fun of his ears:

bo in chair copy

I guess we won’t be able to use it now:

Eastwood apparently so annoyed the egomaniacal president that the leader of the Free World felt compelled to hit back via Twitter (“this seat is taken”) at the movie star. Talk about losing your presidential aura. Empty chair = Obama is now a powerful association. Will the chair be in ads?

(aside: “Empty Chair” now leading the list of #ThingsIWouldVoteForBeforeObama)

Butt back to those Twinkies; I’m really going to be sorry to see them go the way of Chicago’s coal plants:

close coal plants

After all, the iconic Twinkie seems so perfect for these times: a spongy cake surrounding a fluffy, air filled sweet nothing consisting of no real ingredients. Mmmm, mmm, mmm!

bo peace is hardAn American Icon

Oh and one last thing: did you catch the blue moon last night? I don’t know who’s been messing with the gravitational pull on the oceans now, butt this blue moon was certainly Won for the record books, don’t you think?

I said get out of my kitchen!
