Yes it’s true. You have probably seen comments discussing the FOM Flyover Fest (FFF), butt let’s be honest, an event this ginormous deserves its own full post, and thanks to creeper, here it is. Thanks, to the efforts of JLHahn and creeper, you all have a chance to meet, shop, tour, break bread and sample the “Tea Trolley” with your fellow FOMs on April 20-21, 2013, in Sioux Falls, SD! Yup, in the real, physical world!
Man! I wish I could be there, butt the sequester has put the kibosh on travel for federal employees. The only exceptions are the Wons, the vice-Wons, Big Guy’s many Czars and secretaries and large groups of federal employees attending multi-million dollar “training sessions” in exotic domestic locations where they make fun videos!
Besides, Lady M has blocked the months of April and May for shopping. She wants a complete new wardrobe for our historic, triumphant return to Martha’s Vineyard later this summer. So, unfortunately, even though she’s not covered by the sequester, Lady M won’t be able to join you in Sioux Falls either. You’re welcome.
Butt back to the FFF. Hey, if you attend, maybe you can make a fun video! Anyhoo, it looks like it’s going to be a way fun and very professional event, complete with its own logo and “looty bags”:
There’s lots of cool things to see:
Downtown Sioux Falls
Great places to eat:
Things to do on Sunday morning:
and places to have breakfast too: The Original Pancake House
I’ll be right back...
Ok, I’m back. I was just suddenly overcome with the need for a snack!
If you aren’t familiar with Sioux Falls, here are a few facts to bring you up to speed:
- Sioux Falls cracked the Top 10 for its strong local economy in POLICOM's annual "economic strength" rankings, coming in at No. 9 in 2012, up one from No. 10 in 2011 and “Booming” way better than 2005:
- Allstate Insurance Co. proclaimed Sioux Falls ”America’s Safest Driving City” for the fifth year in a row. So, git yer motor running!
Born to be Wild: Steppenwolf
The FFF HQ will be the Sheraton Sioux Falls & Convention Center, right smack dab in the heart of the action.
I’m sure they have parking for your chopper close to the cool atrium lobby.
Other amenities include:
and a full service, uhhh, “Tea Room”...
Ok, so I know what you’re thinking: “MOTUS, how do I get in on the fun and score one of those looty bags?” Well, it’s really easy: just contact creeper (Randi AT centurylink DOT net). Of course, the AT is really @ and the DOT is really . and there are no spaces. Butt spam spiders have been crawling all over the intertoobs, and we don’t want to make life easy for the spammers out there.
Well, I’ve got to go, Lady M is ringing that little “summon the staff” bell dR. Jilly gave her for
Christmas Winter Gift Day. I really wish I could be in Sioux Falls in person, butt I will be there in spirit and, if everything works out technologically (Raj are you listening?) live blogging for the Tea Trolley hour.
